Right Gerry, hope you can get by on your "close and play" :-)
Should be a couple weeks and we'll be good to go on mono's, I'll post some comments after break-in. You'll have to stop by when you make it up our way!
Art: I am really looking forward to reading your comments once you get the other VAC Phi 300.1 and go to a monoblock configuration. I'm down here drooling at not only what you have assembled, but what's in-store for your system.
Like I told you, I'll go back and listen to my "close and play" waiting for your comments. Hopefully Kevin and crew are working diligently :)
Hi! Awesome system, I'm a VAC fan and would love to hear!
Can you pls provide to me the contact info for the outfit that built your crossovers? I need to have my G-200 xovers modified to drive the upgraded BG mid-range ribbon used in the G-201. (I can obtain specs for the new ribbons).
I'd like to see if they could either modify my G-200 boards or provide new versions.
OMG, lighting is everything. Nice integration of interior design pillars as sound treatment. If Pythagoras tomb were found, perhaps it might look like this, complete w/ carpet.
Great looking set up. In addition to the equipment the aesthetics of the room itself are appealing. What are those purple "light things" that cast the light right up to the ceiling?
Hi Arthursmuck, Did you completely replace the the Opus with the MBL 1531? I'm curious as I was considering the Opus 21 for my own system. Have you done much AB-ing between the two players?
Hi Musicfile, thans for the kind words! Yes, Denny is one of the people I worked with on my speakers, I'll have some new in room pics up this weekend....
Hi Arthursmuck, I was at a dealers today and finally got to hear the 300.1. It was paired up with a ARC Ref3 pre which I currently have and ARC Ref cd7 red book cd player, speakers were Sonus Faber Elipsa.
I really don't understand some dealers, this dealer has a Sig. Vac pre but does not have it hooked-up and just sitting on a shelf. I asked what are your thoughts of the difference between the ARC and Vac pre is there a benefit of synergy using the Vac. Answer was yes the Vac sounds better hooked up with the Vac. amp., my thoughts are why don't you have it hooked-up then.
I don't like the sound characteristics of the Sonus Faber Elipsa speakers so I was trying to hear around them if you know what I mean. What I did hear sounded promising, really nice holographic stage presence, and tonal qualities were very pleasing, bass did not sound very good nor did it go very deep, very loose and did not sound realistic.
Overall very nice looking piece and most defiantly I would like to hear it with in my system but with the Sig. pre. The only issue is that as expected it does throw off a bit of heat, one hour in a room of about 20ft by 30ft and I could feel the difference in room temperature getting substantially warmer.
Do you think one would drive my MBL 101E's properly or realistically if I'm going to go this route I should be looking at two? Double the heat not sure if it will be proper in the wife friendly zone, in my designated room yeh no issues.
Very attractive looking piece, can you actually turn off the front of this unit which is lit up if you wish to do so?
Thanks Cdc, I currently have prototype LS-6 line arrays from GR Research. My custom pair of the larger LS-9 arrays arrives in a couple of weeks, I'll post some pics then...
