I did try the vivaldi dac straight to the amps, but prefered the burmester preamp's warmish and engaing sound much better.

wow very cool system, where did you get the ceiling clouds from?

There are a few items that will make your system significantly better:

1: Stein Harmonizers
2: Acoustic System Resonators
3: Shakti Holographs
4: Less Loss Black Bodies

Possibly a good power conditioner

Also the Stllpoints racks will outperform the HRS products.

Even with good dedicated power I have found the Running Springs devices to make a large improvement without restricting dynamics.

Just out of curiosity, did you try the Vivaldi direct? On my Scarlatti I did prefer my preamp in place...although the Scarlatti was more transparent going direct...seems to not have the demetionality via a preamp.

Jfrech-- appreciate your +2 as well.i'm still shaking my head...
As for the vivaldi- it is sounding better and better as expected with ~300 hours on it already. same for the Burmester amps and preamp which are only now(~250 hours)beginning to open up more.
The main difference at this stage is how much more dynamic and resolute the sound is in comparison to my previous itiration/s. another obvious,yet a significant leg- up, is how dead quiet the system/sound is .
i'm also making some changes to the room accoustics. updated pictures will follow.assuming ,of course, that i get permission from the teacher here ....

Ozy, my congratulations on your system. Truly amazing.
I also have the Empress Double Crown, and I can say that these cables are more smooth than the Empress Crown.
Dude, your speakers are beautiful.
I will seek information about the Burmester amplifier to compare with my amplifier Classe CA-M600. Just in case ...
Now, you can compare the sound of Paganini with the Vivaldi? Because I'm not sure whether or not change my dCS Paganini.

Ozy, I don't think there is anything wrong with you wanting to try others, I know I tried numerous prior to the Vac's and in my system with my speakers no others compared but in the end it still comes down to a personal preference.

Thanks miguel,but i happen to have a different perspective of the old argument for tube pre/ solid state amps-
in my findings, amps and pre should be of the same maker as their impedence and sonic charachter are matched perfectly.
No argument re: noise and vibration control- an indespensible foundation to any sound system.

Ozy solid state and the correct tube source can be magigal combination. This is the only way I've been able to achieve a seductive pristine high frequency. I also have solid state front end for a different perspective. Noise cancelling is the key. Stillpoints fives and Klee Acoustics contribute to the magic of letting me hear the least audible distortion I've ever heard in my system to date.
