The Condo System

Nice job working with such a confined space!! These are often the most difficult systems to assemble and be satisfied with. What sort of room treatments are you using?

Another suggestion would be to try and find a tube-staged CD player. Good tube CD players can be a bit pricey, but I'm sure you can find some options for less than $1k. There's a Jolida 100 here on...

Not sure about the differences between the CD-P or CD-S models. I've only heard the Quad 99 CD-P that a friend had and it was very natural sounding with an excellent midrange. However, he had it ho...

Hey Roc, nice clean looking system. If you're having a problem with "runaway" or "boomy" bass, would suggest putting in an area rug as a cheap sound-damper. Also, would suggest ...

Thanks for stopping by Roc_doc! When I started my system, all that I had available to me for a rack was a rickety, cheap "kitchen piece" as Timrhu put it. When I got the VTI rack, I repla...

Hey Samhar, thanks for the suggestion! I definitely agree that these VTI racks are not the best. Wouldn't recommend them for turntable placement similar to my setup. Noise resonates through to the ...

The Arcam 7se is from around '98 or '99. The Blue Book says 2001 but I don't think that's right, I bought it used way before then. I've been considering going with a DAC but not sure what make/bran...

Timrhu,Soundboy-> thanks for the follow-ups. The rack definitely makes a difference. The sound seems to be a lot more 'richer', especially on vocal passages. Nothing else has changed except for the...

My small apartment system.

Simple and practical...nice! I've heard nothing but good things about the VR-1's. Well suited for small tube amps. How do they sound? It looks like you're planning on replacing them.

I did compare the MIT's with the Temporalis pure-silver cables. There was more definition with the Temporalis cables which wasn't a surprise. I can see why silver cables are ideal for tube systems.
