I have had a true love hate relationship with this crazy hobby but am starting to find what I love and less of what I hate. Music is what matters! The wife and I love jazz, classical and small scale accoustic rock. Being from New Orleans, we have a true love for un amplified jazz and accoustical music. Any suggestions with regard to 2 channel enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. And yes, there are actual musicians that enjoy "music" as opposed to "the next high dollar non return on investment " part of this hobby as well. See my music section. Peace!
Yes, my dad came up with the design and they are made from custom solid maple. Thanks!! We are planning on designing and selling different versions if you are interested.
Thanks Paul!!! I spend a lot of time drinking spirits and letting the music carry me away......the decore did not happen overnight. But thanks for noticing!
OK, truth time...I don't know what your system sounds like, I assume it's killer....I see these killer systems surrounded by college frat room furniture, and I just wonder if these guys are ever getting laid. Your surroundings were beautiful and significant. Love the tree art, it works for me. Special albums around the room work in every environment...it works very well in yours...your shit ain't on the floor either, another bonus....I would love to have some liquor at your place while listening to tunes.....job very, very well done.
Switched back to Anti Cables from mega buck Transparent Audio MM2 versions, and am kicking myself in my own azz for spending the money in the first place thinking I was going to gain something by going with the transparent. With that said, they make a beautiful product, and they do sound good, but cost to performance ratio is simply not there. Sorry Transparent, Paul has discovered a gem here!
System edited: Despite the ML's wacky impedence curve, they have to be the most musically satifying speaker I have heard in my system yet.............goes against everything I have read. Imagine that??!!!
Spendors are ridiculously good speakers I am told.
Thanks for touching on the Corner Tunes - I've been dying to know what you think about them. When you test out the Corner Tunes go ahead and set everything else up and get used to the sound for a few days (or a week) and THEN install them. You should hear the timing of the music change drastically - and of course a reduction in harshness (midrange echoes.)
I do have the corner tunes but we are in the middle of a remodle of our home so I am waiting to install them till we are complete. I did test them out to a degree and have to say the "slap" type echo I was getting before seems to have been reduced quite a bit. I will have a full update when I am able to listen for extended periods.
Jedinite24, I got tired of my 2 yr old son knocking them over when he goes running through the house........boys will be boys!! So after listening to several britt models like Spendor, Harbeth, etc I ended up with these Spendors I found here on audiogon for a steal. No stands!! And they are heavy as a chevy! No way he can knock these over, and if so, I am signing him up to play for the New Orleans Saints!! Seriously though, these Spendors are so smooth, I am speechless............they do everything right and nothing wrong. Very happy and totally satisfied with the change.
Thanks Pops! The wall shelf is from Rega/Music Direct, and I added a 2" maple cutting board for a little more isolation, plus I think it looks cool! ha ha.
Hey jimbo, those spendors look great and sure they must sound even better. I think that I have to agree with the British sweetness comment, I love my tannoys. Can I ask what rack your rega is sitting on, I'm looking for something similar so I can place my cdp above my amp and try to sort my cables out a bit. I only wish my girlfriend was abit more like your wife and was into this crazy hobby and music in general. Cheers Dave
What happened to your DIY Mapleshade inspired plinths? With the speaker change did you find that they did not benefit from your wooden and stone plinths?
