Merlin power supply, Mark Baker belt (Origin Live), Funk Firm FXR re-wired with Audio Note 38 gauge/silver straight through,(from cart clips to phono stage) to KLE Absolute Harmony RCAs. With the round BDR platform, I'm able to let the fixed phono cable run down beside the basic platform without interference.
VPI Industries Classic 3 Signature SE
Using a SOTA Eclipse motor package (Condor, Roadrunner)
Stillpoints Ultra SS feet
VPI Industries Analog Drive System (ADS)
Soundsmith Sussurro Mk. 2
K&K Audio Trio phono preamplifier
Herbies tube dampers, Synergistic blue fuse
SMc Audio DNA-225 modded to Signature Ultra status
I've had my VPI Classic 3 Sig SE on the exact same set-up as my Rock 7 and the Rock 7 blew it away with more natural tonal SQ, more musical/cleaner bass, less fatiguing etc...……….
I take your point regarding multiple springs...however, I go with what has worked for me. I will be able to address each individual component when I get the system installed. Such as using either a BDR Shelf for the source, with or without Symposium Rollerblock Jrs. (to address horizontal issues). Lots of options.
Bummer! So you built your Trio? Not too demanding? Guess if I want a Maxxed Out it'll have to be used. I'm happy right now with my Herron. THAT Keith is another good guy!
No, It's the Trio. According to Kevin, the Maxxed-Out may never be produced again. I think the Trio may be in the process of being phased out as well. He told me that he has a brand new design he wants to develop. I too lusted after a Zestos... the price is a consideration. I believe K&K offers performance way above their asking price. I've spent several hours talking and listening with Kevin. I'm a believer.
slaw, I see what appears to be a K & K phono amp under your Rock. Is it the Maxxed Out? If I ever again get a new phono stage, that's at the top of my very short check out list (along with the Zesto).
Thank you both for your responses. I have many years, tears and lots of time/money invested in what resulted in my current set-up. I can appreciate your time invested in researching the best way to isolate/decouple. All I can say is, sometimes one has to go with their ears. This is what I've done and I'm very satisfied. Still, I think my new design will be beneficial to my forth-coming set-up/
Looks like an excellent design Steve. The layout of my current room prevents wall mounting my Townshend Rock Elite table (it has Sorbothane feet, which I bypass with a set of the Seismic Pods), but luckily my floor is pretty stable. Kenny, I think you may be able to put a set of the Pods under your rack, even with your table's spring suspension. The resonant frequency of the Pods is very, very low, not that close to that of your table's, I would guess. You of course don't want both spring systems to have the same resonant frequency, but I don't believe you would. Email Max Townshend for technical advice, he's a very nice fellow.
I like your reasoning and I use Townshend Isolation Bars under my subs. I have suspended floors and they completely eliminated the mechanical feedback that was coming into my turntable. My turntable has spring loaded feet, and I recently read a post here about avoiding multiple sets of springs on the same rack. For example, I was thinking about placing my entire rack on one of Townshend's spring products, but thought I may wind up with a bad interaction with the rack springs working with/against the turntable springs. I thought I'd mention this, because I noticed that you use springs as well for your turntable.
