First desire system. The Mac and Khorn combo were the first true hi end system I ever heard, and are still magic to me. It began my love affair with this hobby. Glen

Interesting that you say a Linn amp may sound better. I had the Klout before I got the Aleph 30 and for me the Klout has been the best amp I have heard to date. And the new amps are supposed to better by a large margine.

Currently I am trying an older Classe CA100. Much more dynamic and articulate than the Pass, but not as refined. I will keep it a while until my system is balance and maybe beyond that.

I must say DVDs and TV is much more involving. Come to think of it everything is more involving compared to the Pass Aleph 30, much more musical IMHO.

Hi thanks for the comments, I stillhave my Linn Wakonda/LK100 and it is a good combo, sounds very good on the Khorns. I find the Mac gear, lush, open and inviting, which I like. A linn preamp should work into the Pass Aleph, but I think you will find a Linn amp sounds better.

Haven't heard the older Mac gear, and yes I find it more inviting than the Linn, BUT it costs more, so I take nothing away from the Linn gear.

Beautiful system! I love the Mac/Klipsh combo. To die for!

I have been down the Linn road as you have. Loved it. Should have kept it for a second system, but cost prohibative for me. I want to put system another Linn system together because old Linn has great sound and is affordable.

Went through entry Cary. Big, warm, but to dark. Not my cup of tea. I'm in limbo for now. I have been dreaming of getting McIntosh, but it is to pricey for me, unless it is old. Does old Mac sound good? Is it more musically inviting than Linn? In a perfect world I'd have a Linn system and a Mac system.

Currently I have an old Pass Labs Aleph 30 amp. Do you feel a Linn preamp would match until I can get a Linn amp, or is this a bad match?

Hi again thanks for the input and respones, been away for a few weeks...to the question of Mac..I love it, it just sound great to me, I have heard alot of hi end gear in my home and the Mac just draws me into the music....

Its a tough one on the C46 and the C2200 both are great and both do things differently, the c46 is clean and dynamic, the c2200 open and lush but with good dynamics, I really like the C46 alot and do use the eq...not too great extremes, just to fine tune the sound. Lately I have been using the c46/252 and the c2200/275 both are mighty nice...but I mix and match with nice results also.

Bigjoe..I haven't had a chance to try 2 252s but i really want to give it a go.

I have always been a big believer in a proper source, really good electronics into modesy but a good quality speaker..at first it seems like overkill but it isn't.
I have heard systems with far more expensive speakers that to me don't sound as good....as far as the Khorns are concerned, they are big but so easy to drive and have a sound of their own (which I like). but I also like a good dynamic speaker...hence the multiple set ups.

I use them all and enjoy them equally, it just depends on my mood, thanks

Hi again
Just wanted to know what you think of the C46. I am very interested in it for the equalizer but I don't really want to give up my tubes (VK-3i). How does it compare to the C2200? Perhaps you can help me decide between the two. Thanks! Arthur

hi ben, have you had a chance to try your mc252 with the k horns yet,i sold my k horns before i got the mc252 & ever since ive wondered what that combo would have been like,if i had more room the k horns would of never been sold but i guess thats the way the cookie crumbles.

btw, nice lookin rig,we share alot of the same gear, obviously a man of good taste :)

hi thanks for the response, yes it does make it easy to mix and match, the Mcs are great too, thanks

superhonestben

Now that is what I call a setup! I am becoming a fan of having several systems too since I can tailor each one to a particular type of music. Besides, it's fun to swap around when you need a change. I wish I had all those Mcs!!
