Hey Art...seriously, no joke that it's quite a change! ;-) I can only imagine you're in midrange bliss -- ahh. Tannoy loudspeakers can be intoxicating.
I had the privilege of spending a small bit of time in a couple of mastering rooms in L.A., which featured custom Tannoys with Tannoy super tweeters and some non-Tannoy custom subs...the room and sound were terrific!
I'm due for another tour of Texas to visit the good people there. :-)
Just returned from a San Diego Music and Audio Guild event at PBN Audio, which featured the Pennywise speaker and PBN electonics...very nice sounding :-)
The system/room allowed the listeners to get a feel for the very agile nature of this loudspeaker.
I saw Albert at THE Show in Cali. I asked about you and he mentioned you were changing speakers...WOW -I thought- your system sounded dynamite to me when I had the pleasure!
Let us know how the sound develops...btw, PBN is about 1/2 hour away from me. I haven't been by there, though.
What a sensational system and room that enchanted me this evening! Beguiling vocals rendered by Rickie Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, and Natalie Merchant....ethereal production values evident on Donald Fagen's, The Nightfly...
The soundstage, vast, and imaging, a producer's delight, and all without the benfit of reel tape!:-)
The ability to switch between crossover networks that feature identical circuits and different brand parts was instructive and revealing. It's terrific that you can exercise such an option.
Finally, the projected color light starfield, upon the VAC amps, engaged in their stellar choreography was only eclipsed by the celestial Texas evening sky.
Thank you, Art, for your gracious hospitality and the opportunity to revel in a marvelous expression of your passion.
Hooray! My flight from San Diego arrives in Dallas/Love Field, Wed., 3/31 and departs Sun., 4/1...I have reservations at the Best Western Cityplace Inn and look forward to greeting you, personally :-)
