My cables are very special designed by Russian engineer. It consist of many 3mm wires. The core of each is steel (poor conductivity) with very thin layer of cooper. Unique design and very impressive result. I'm not searching for cables anymore.
Hi Mike! Thank you. I'm very impressed with Tidal electronics. But not much with Tidal speakers...may be need time :) I changed my speakers to deeply reconstructed Mirage M3 and constructing some special speakers with Altec paper cones and horns :) Looks like I'm switching to DIY for speakers and cables :)
All cables replaced by Acoustic System Liveline! Only some power cords from Argento left. Incredible result! Dramatically better resolution, dynamic and timbre accuracy! I don't know if better cable exist!
New digital cable arrived! Siltech Golden Ridge RCA. It sound slightly more transparent than Valhalla! Also Stealth Varidig Sextet BNC arrived as clock cable. Not very happy now, hope after warming up will be better. Inspired with Siltech result, I've ordered Siltech Golden Eagle BNC for clock. Will see how it is in compare with Sextet.
Photos attached, finally! Most of dCS works as heavy stand instead of clock! Computer transport sound is really much better when it placed on top of dCS Transport:)
I found better quality pictures! General view: http://soundex.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11395 Old DACs and Tidal: http://soundex.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11396 Vinyl: http://soundex.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11398
I forgot to say that I also had Emmlabs DAC2 and TSD1. Here is the 1 year old photos with Emmlabs and Berkeley: http://soundex.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11370 http://soundex.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=11371 I'll post new ones with dCS, Linn and Lavry.
Now I use SMREE with DACs. This cable is the best! Best resolution and bass control. FMR has may be even better bass control, but less body in bass. Odin is also very good, may be not as resolving as SMREE in upper mids, but in highs is incredible. Jorma is much less resolving than Argento and Odin, but very musical with perfectly right timbres. KS Emotion and Elation are a bit muddy in compare with the rest. Stealth is very dynamic, but was too bright in my system. Valhalla is good balanced cable, but just can't reach Odins resolution.
I tried this power cords: KubalaSosna Emotion and Elation Stealth Dream Nordost Valhalla Jorma Prime and now have this ones: Nordost Odin Argento FMR and SMREE SMREE works very good on DAC FMR on power amp I suggest to try Argento Flow also.
2 more brilliant power cords Nordost Odin! Together with Argento FMR they do something! Odin is trully magic! They affect to the timbres making them absolutely truthfull. Never instruments was so alive in my system! Happy me:)
Argento FMR now my power cables! They are totally impressive!!! My system reached absolutely new level with this cables! I never expected such a powerfull, controlled and layered bass in my system. I feel the music and become involved with every recordings!
Hi Kops, I have Tidal Preos between dCS and Gryphon and can't remove it! It really adds life to the music! Volume control of dCS is great, so I'm bypassing it in Tidal, but Tidal must be there! As for the Stealth, as you know I have 3 cables: wall, preamp and digital. Digital cable added so much dynamic to Scarlatti! Great cable! Today I heard Nordost Odin and this is incredible power cable. I also want to try Jorma Prime and than finally decide!
Hi Cappuccino! I compared Tidal with Mirage and Tidal was more transparent, clear and analog like! After what I heard from Tidal, I've stoped my search, so I didn't compare Tidal with MBL and Burmester. I'm listening 99% orchestras and piano concertos. Also Tidal has best phono section in the world, I believe. I compared it with Aesthetix IO Eclipse and Nagra PL-L. Murat.
System edited: I decided to keep Berkeley for high resolution playback. I feel it is more neutral. Scarlatti is a bit warm. But for redbook CD Scarlatti is a clear winner!
System edited: I think this last dramatic change in my system. Because now impossible to imagine what can be better. With Scarlatti my system become pure live music. First time I heard real piano and violins in my room. I feel that I've finished with electronic. I need to finally decide about cables and than think about best speakers ever made!
Nagra PLP is very good device! It is also very neutral! It is much better than anything else I heard including Aesthetic IO Eclipse, but except Preos. May be just a little bass control is not perfect, but device I heard was old and may be tubes was not perfect. So, I think it is best choice for this price.
I'm using ordinary PC with XP and Foobar. I have compared Berkeley only with Emmlabs. Tomorrow I'll have a chance to compare Berkeley with dCS Scarlatti! This will be very interesting!
System edited: I've changed DAC2 to Alpha DAC. This was difficult decision. I had both dacs during last 3 month and finally decided to live with Berkeley. Female voice and piano are so much better with Berkeley!
System edited: I've installed Lynx AES16 card to my computer. It is now so much better than TSD1! Incredible! Best transport in the world! I'm now thinking: do I need custom digital cable to replace the one which came in the box?
Before Colosseum I had Gryphon Encore. I've auditioned Antileon also, because Colosseum was too expensive for me too. But I found that Antileon is not much better than Encore. And Colosseum is so much better!!! It is 30% more expensive but for me 100 times better!!! I suggest to save money and buy Colosseum when you'll have enough!
Thank you, Gregadd. Allnic looks cool, but 20k for Korean product is too much:) I already auditioned Aesthetix IO Eclipse and found it not 100% natural. Strange, but some records sound really bad. Nagra PL-P was much better for me, but bass was not as good as Asthetix. I'll also audition Tidal Preos this week. I hope it will be really good!
