After a long day at dental school I need an escape from reality and music provides a great departure from hectic days. Feel free to comment or recommend other gear. Although my stereo sounds great to me, I have not had the opportunity to hear a lot of hi-fi stuff and thus I am not sure how good my set-up is in comparison to others. Thanks for looking.
skiing ninja cross-overs made a huge difference in the sonic character of the speaker vs the regular swan 2.1 se's. really opened them up and let the music float freely.
Anthem 225 integrated amp
Powerful yet refined with an expansive sound stage.
Eastern Electric Mini Max DAC 1
Solid little DAC. I swapped the op amps to the LME4990's which sound great but I continue to listen to the tube output most of the time.
Oppo 93
nice universal transport
Apple Airport Express
I would like to get a MAC Mini but this works for now. It actually sounds pretty good after running through the minimax dac
Paradigm PW-2200
Provides plenty of boom for my purposes and integrates rather well with the speakers. It really benefited from a MAC sub cable and a MAC HC power cord.
My Audio Cables Ultra Silver
I have these running from the DAC --> AMP. much more open and detailed than the monsters they replaced.
"I was also thinking about filling the stands with some sand but I'm not sure that it would make any notable difference in the sound."
I think that filling the stands with sand, would certainly make a notable difference in the sound of your system. Metal stands have a tendency to "ring" and sand would certainly help dampen this effect.
That is one nicely assembled system. I've wanted the Anthem for a while but funds haven't allowed it. I've read good things of the EE DAC. How did you come to choose that one over others? Haven't heard from Swan in a while. Very nice.
Nice system for a student! You have good value componenta. I'm sure it sounds great.
It looks like you have tile floor. You might find the system to sound a little better if you extend the area rug to cover more of the floor in front of the speakers.
