I just noticed your system and I'm impressed all to heck with the design and appearance of it and the Acoustic Zen Crescendo Speaker.
I located the Acoustic Zen website, appears they are $16K retail and based on the rave review at PFO and the factory (internet) images sans grill, these appear to be a true high end bargain.
I can only imagine what they sound like, congratulations on your hard work.
I see you use the Synergistic fuses. I'm about to purchase fuses for my dac and amp and after a lot of reading and conversations I think I'm going with the SR. May I ask if you've tried other fuses and if so, how do the SRs compare? If not, how much of an impRovement are the SRs over the stock fuses? Are your fuses in the signal path or AC (I assume AC). Also, people have said they are directIonal. Yes they work both ways but one way seems to sound better than the other.
Wig, It is obvious you have spent a lot of time tuning your system with different tweaks. I have many of the same ones, but am curious about a couple - I was wondering about the MW PS 9.9 and the Audio Magic Blue Dot. Could you comment on how each impacted your system and which tweaks were best relative to cost. many thanks, dave
Congratulations, I heard these Crescendo speakers extensively at CES earlier this year and felt they were among the very best regardless of price. They were excellent sounding driven by the Triode Corp 845 PSET amplifier.
I've had Keith's phono stage for a number of years and just added his new VTSP-3A (R02) last month. As good (great) as the VTPH-2 is, the preamp is a knockout. Absolutely worth a listen!
Thanks ...........The amps look pretty lightweight but I haven't heard them. I am leaning towards Pass (XA- 60/100's)as I had their 30wpc Integrated and really liked it but felt it was a bit down in power for my Focal Be monitors. I am also looking at a pair of cj mono-blocs LP140M's.
The VAC Amp looks substantial and much more impressive than my Cary SLI-80 did.
I have the Herron Phono Stage and like it very much. His amp and pre-amp intrigue me because of how good his phono stage performs.
Herron equipment is absolutely fantastic but I want a Tube amp with no compromises and the Vac 160i fits that bill perfectly. They sound similiar but Vac has more body and flesh...
That is most definately a beautiful setup that you have there... Right down to the curtains blending with the speakers... Very classy looking... I'm very envious of you... A++
System edited: Clarity Cables and HiDiamond interconnects are run in series using AudioQuest female to female connectors and Clarity/Hidiamond speaker Cables are doubled up as well and sounds fantastic...
