@wig I can't believe I've never seen or commented on your system! It looks great and love those single driver speakers I can just imagine how good it all sounds!
Lovely system you have. Mine is all packed ready to move house. I'll be getting ready to do the 1800 mods after we unpack in our new home. Can you keep the images of your mods up on line until I get to attack my own 1800's.
Wig, who is that "Draping" over on the right side of your room? Great system, btw. I had the AZ Adagios in the past, and would love to have these someday.
Top to bottom coherence, imaging, transparency, speed and musicality is why I chose the Crescendos; I haven't heard any speaker that's seamless as the AZ!
The Vac's tight bottom end, fast transients and beautiful midrange matches very well with AZ and I rarely turn the volume control past the 9 O-Clock position and they are slightly bigger, 14" or so taller. This photo was taken at a lower vantage point and they appears bigger.
Most of my recordings sounded the same with the Avalon's and the AZ extracts so much more detail, speed and truly disappear.
Very nice system. I see that you changed out your Avalons for Acoustic Zen Crescendo. I also have the VAC 160i and am thinking of replacing my Tannoy DC10T with something having similar body and tone but with a bit more air, resolution and base speed and quality. Also needs to sound full at the lower volume levels that I prefer. Interested in your view of the synergy of VAC-AZ.
How would you describe the AZ Crescendo's ability to do that with VAC?
Also, the finish on those AZ's looks very nice but do you find them a bit imposing in size compared with your former Avalons which are more similar in size to my current speakers?
