not much in the way of bells and whistles here. the system is rounded out with monster speaker wire and monster cables bewteen the components. the room is 13 x 25 so the components are on one side and the speakers are set up such that the couch has the "sweet spot." i'll post pictures for feedback once we pick up the area. my wife wouldn't let me take a picture. most of my investment is in the music, still i'd welcome feedback and insight on how i might maximize my aural enjoyment.
System edited: long view of speakers. they're close to the wall and about six feet apart. can't do much else because of the long rectangular configuration of the room. still there is a very nice sweet spot on the couch. also their is a very good stereo image throughout the room. thanks to everyone who has commented thus far. looking for some feedback now that the speakers are shown. thanks!
Glad to see someone with their priorities right. Good quality, affordable components and lots and lots of music to listen to. I'm betting you get more enjoyment out of your system than many who have spend much, much more. btw, glad to see another changer fan around here. I like nothing better than load my Onkyo with 6 of my favorite blues or bluegrass CDs and hit random play. Sort of my own private radio station.
You remind me of my father, with over 10,000 selections in his library you and he are what this hobby should be about, loving music...it is always sad to see these $30,000 plus systems with music collections of only 200 or so. My collection is only about 350 cd and 200 vinyl but with access to my fathers collection I dont need to buy much.
Once again the most impressive collection/ library I have seen in a long time, bravo. Can we get some information on the speakers, and maybe a picture of their respective placment in your listening area? Marantz is a great choice and always has been. It really comes down to what you want the system to do for you??? I have seen members that rave about their $1500 systems and have no upgrade intentions, and I have also seen members that speak of the need to upgrade components that cost as much as cars.... this being the case I believe that the truest enjoyment in audio comes from getting lost in a great LP or cd, and ultimately not how much one spends on gear. Don't get me wrong.... nice gear is an essential part of the listening experience but this hobby should always be about the thrill of a great jazz vocal, bass guitar, or that tingle that runs down your back when you feel as though you are a part of the music itself. take care and thanks again for the jazz albums. i actually just purchased the marantz earlier this year. we enjoy loading up the changer so i really wanted to find a good carousel. i considered a rotel but the dealer wouldn't set it up to audition (he only had 1) and it was more than twice what the marantz was. i'll google Rega to check them out. I'll be interested to see if they do the carousel thing- which seems to be the antithesis of true audiophile gear. thanks for taking the time to respond.
Great to see a real music lover with a fine collection. You've got enough tunes to last several lifetimes. But have you thought about upgrading your CD player? Without going crazy with spending on the digital front end, Rega make some affordable and good-sounding players that might increase your listening enjoyment (Rega Planet 2000, Rega Jupiter, Rega Apollo, etc.). Others will have other suggestions on digital upgrades, but these are players that I can vouch for.
