Zephyr - I'm using a couple of 20 x 15 x 1 1/2" rubberwood butcher blocks under the CD player and amp that I picked up on eBay for around $50 each; rubberwood is related to maple and has similar characteristics. Have the isoblocks under the butcher blocks and am very pleased with the sound.
