Shakey, I see your recent post on the "Adagios vs Veenas" that you now went toward the high efficiency direction. I am there. Dan's system would keep me very happy:)
Thanks for the kind words islandmandan. As for the Sonic Euphoria, I have had several preamps in here that were 4-5 times the cost and they didn't hang around long.
Your system too is very clean and elegant looking, bet it sounds great.
Superb system, I've heard nothing but great things about the Grand Veena's. I'd love to hear them some time. We share the Sonic Euphoria line stage, nothing I've had comes close for the price.
The only VTL amps I've heard were the Siegfried's, driving Wilson X 2's. Naturally, they sounded extremely good, even though I'm not great fan of Wilson speakers. I like the clean look of your set up. Enjoy!
When I first got the speakers I thought they might not play quite as loudly as I would like. At the time they had roughly 20-30 hours on them. Now after six weeks I have completely changed my mind. They now play as loudly as I could want, and sound even better than before. I could not be happier with my purchase.
the grand veenas. I go back and forth between using a bat vk 60se and a moscode 402au on them depending on the season. it is very easy to detect the sonic signature of what you using source/amp. they have been for (me) my favorite speaker, next to (and i'm sorry i sold them) the proac response 2s. i listen to a wide variety of music, and i owned and auditioned many other brands in the process of putting together a good system (i enjoy them, and that's all that matters, anyway.) as for the complaints of them being harsh when being "pushed" one might want to get an spl meter, because at least in my room the are plenty loud enough. best purchase i have made for the buck...hands down.
I like them very much. They are even more coherent than the C3s, which is a feat. Tonally, they are neutral, but rich when the recording calls for it. Hard to beat if you don't want to play them insanely loud, which they won't do.
Someone once said they look like "ET sitting on a trash can". I can see that. However, they look much better in person. And the way they sound, I can't fault em' very much for being ugly....
Nice system... Good to see another fello C-3 owner..we are few in numbers. What are your thoughts about your C-3's now? alas, my system is in storage until my remodel is done.
Well in honesty, I didn't go amp shopping. But one of the Canary amps blew an output transfomer. I ended up selling the other one back to them, long story. I bought the VTL on a whim. But honest to God it sounds better and I'm damn glad I did.
