Record cleaning machines very work well, but before you make the investment, buy some Disc Doctor brushes and fluid and clean them manually, which usually does a better job than the machine anyway. Also, I would recommend combining the DD manual cleaning with the recording cleaning machine. I usually dry with a clean t-shirt and then rack dry using a cheap wood dinner plate drying rack from Ikea; if I use my record cleaning machine (nitty gritty), I use the machine instead of the t-shirt. The biggest problem with cleaning is the committment of time to do it, since it typically involves a clean/scrub, followed by a rinse, followed by drying. The cheaper machines are also very loud, which could be a problem.
