Description

This is my first 2 channel system. I started with Audio Physic Spark speakers but they did not sound good in the large room. The Zu speakers are brand new....big improvement. I recently went with a tube phono stage although the internal Mac phono is very good. Any comments or tips would be appreciated

Nice minimalist efficient system!

one question, What do you think of the druid? i have a similar set up as you (P9+20xHO dynavector + prologue one primaluna and pair of laScala), i want to upgrade my speaker for druid? would you recommanded it, base on your listening experience?

Nice home away from home system. I would imagine that warm Mac sound helps to mellow out hard floors and big windows. Great choice in gear.

Record cleaning machines very work well, but before you make the investment, buy some Disc Doctor brushes and fluid and clean them manually, which usually does a better job than the machine anyway. Also, I would recommend combining the DD manual cleaning with the recording cleaning machine. I usually dry with a clean t-shirt and then rack dry using a cheap wood dinner plate drying rack from Ikea; if I use my record cleaning machine (nitty gritty), I use the machine instead of the t-shirt. The biggest problem with cleaning is the committment of time to do it, since it typically involves a clean/scrub, followed by a rinse, followed by drying. The cheaper machines are also very loud, which could be a problem.

How well do LP cleaning machines work? Have you seen and heard them in action?

All of my LP's are pristine but I still get an occasional tick or pop.

Wood floor and lots of glass......there is a challenge. I have found that area rugs placed directly in front of the system and more so directly in front of the speakers will greatly tweek the sound that is delivered to you. Give it a shot, they are not super expensive and easy to move and experiment with. 9 foot windows, must be a nice view? Window treatments are equally beneficial to what is delivered, (or not) to you in the listening position. They also have the factor of easy change out, color change, and wife acceptance factor. If you give these a try let me know if it works out, or simply what you find?

Owner
thanks for the response. The room is large with hardwood floors and nine foot windows. I don't have any plans to upgrade soon although I am tempted to try the Tube route. I am planning on buying an LP cleaning machine soon though.

Great system. Not sure what the rest of the room looks like but have you given any thought to acoustic wall treatments? Even the addition of rugs, non-reflective wall hangings and overstuffed furniture can and will enhance the experience. Let me know what the remainder of the room looks like? Components are a great mix of some killer gear, nice choice, nice job.
