For best sound, you will want to experiment with placement a bit once the OHms break in, which may take awhile if they are new. They will probably sound much different once broken in and the location where they sound best may change.
Placement will affect mostly soundstage, imaging accuracy and muscle and extension in the low end. Toe out can help adjust the timbre as you've discovered. You want the front inside corners (tweeter is oriented in this direction) to point towards your listening location in general. Pointing these directly towards listening position will reduce soundstage width somewhat as more sound comes from the tweter versus the wide range Walsh driver. POinting the front inside corner in front of main listening position will widen the soundstage in general in comparison.
