MC hosted the first ever Chuxpona August 13-14. Masterminded by our own rixthetrick, it featured millercarbon's system with the new Origin Live Sovereign MkIV turntable and Enterprise MkIV arm, and Raven Blackhawk amp with QSA Blue fuse. The system is heavily treated with Krissy Magic™ and Krissy herself, our official Guest of Honor, arrived Friday for her own private listening session.
We kicked off Saturday with several hours listening to the MC system. Then moved on to running the Moabs sans subs off Brandon's 37WPC Bel Canto power amp. The bass and overall volume level of the Moabs we heard were impressive. Brandon is into club music levels and after hearing this says, "I want Moabs!"
We then moved on to running a whole different system, with speakers, amp, DAC etc, check the pics. Lots of listening. As Brandon said, a huge amount of information to absorb. To which I would only add, and a huge amount of fun!
Thanks clivet, I have had Origin Live Conqueror arm, and now the Sovereign/Enterprise, which is an altogether higher league. Highly recommended. Check out my website, get in touch, happy to help with any and all turntable upgrade ideas.
I am seriously thinking about upgrading to a Origin Live Analog package like yours. I have never seen or listened to one in the flesh. Seems like they are very rare at shows in the USA especially, with all the streaming going on. I had some other packages in mind but, the feedback on Origin Live from around the World have been really positive. I am in the New York area. I will definitely include the silver hybrid 2s arm cable, continuous run, no breaks (in my opinion, the only way to go). I will see how it goes. Happy listening, enjoy the music.
Would love to have you over. Quite a few have come, including one from Phoenix, AZ just the other day. The Origin Live Sovereign, with Enterprise MkIV arm, is one fine table! I'm sure the arm wire is still breaking in a little but it sounds plenty good already! Running through the Herron into the Raven Blackhawk, through all Townshend F1 and into Moabs with seriously upgraded crossovers is a magical treat for the ears! If you are ever in the Seattle area let me know, we will try our best to work you in so you can hear for yourself. Cheers!
The monitors were made by Rick, under license from an Australian company. Rick wanted to bring them up to hear in my system. We invited Krissy, and it just kind of grew from there. My Moabs are a dark gray Charcoal, perfect color for the room and dual use with movies. Although I haven't been watching a lot of movies since music sounds so good! The Raven Blackhawk is mine. Was originally going Reflection but decided to try this and what a smart move, the little Blackhawk is magic, with plenty of power, and the price savings was enough to get the Sovereign/Enterprise and that definitely was a good move!
Awesome! Very cool stuff. Arranging audiophile get togethers is near impossible. What are the small monitors? They look super sweet. Your Moabs look great in black; it kind of makes all the drivers less noticeable, which may be a good thing aesthetically.
Is the Raven yours? I know you were going to get one…
Thanks guys. This was the best but not the first - nor the last. Already looking forward to Chuctoberfest end of Chuctober, and then next year the big one, do I have to say it? MCES!
Must be nice to have audiophile friends to share your hobby with. I have none so it can be a lonely solo hobby. Superb equipment too, to enhance your music experience that I can aspire to. Thanks for posting.
