I rotate two other pairs of speakers through my main system, Nola Boxer 2’s,and Graham Chartwell LS3/5’s. I also have a secondary system in the “Pit”( our finished basement.) I’ll be adding pictures in the near future. In the Pit I’m running a First Watt J2, Promitheus TVC pre, Decware Z stage, April Music Stello DA 100 signature, Bluesound Node 2. Also rotated down here are a pair of Monarchy Audio sm70mkII’s. I also rotate my speakers through this system as well. Cables by: Analysis Plus, Dyson Audio, and PS Audio Chinese knock off.
Thank you for the kind words @jeffstrick. I didn’t know what to expect. I found the design very interesting, and found a pair of demo’s. I am really very impressed! The soundstage is huge. These are very fast and detailed, without being at all fatiguing. They are different from the other speakers I rotate in my systems, which I was actually hoping for, a new flavor!
Thank you for the positive comments mjcmt. I do think a tube pre is the way to go with Mr. Pass'amps. The sound to my ears is magical!
The Onkyo has worked flawlessly. It definitely is a lower budget deck. I did find a big improvement using an external DAC.( Although,I used it for about 5 years without one.) I'm starting to think that an Audiolab cd transport is where I'll probably end up.
If you are nearby to Horn Shoppe, I would definitely check out his products. He makes some very highly regarded pre amps. It looks like he's always tinkering with something.
Thanks b_limo. Those are an Ed Schiiling creation. I found these used about 6 years ago. They have impressed me enough that they will stay in the permanent rotation. Great detail without fatigue. They seem to work really well in my tiny room.
