Description

Well, as you can see I do not have an unlimited amount of money to spend on building my system, the total cost is probably no more than $6000, which some would consider budget, but me being only 14, that is a ****load of money to me. But, to my ears it is beautiful :) It saves me from the worries of life. When I listen to it, im in my happy place. And most importantly, it gets me up playing air guitar every time I listen.

Anyway, my goal was to create a musical, powerful, dynamic, and emotionally involving system. One that grips your soul. One whos bass makes the house shudder. One who can rock so hard the the windows break, and still sound incredible while doing it. One with balls-against-the wall SPL. But also one that can tiptoe gently across any classical recording or jazz recording.

I mostly listen to classic rock, new rock, hell, any rock will do. I just love rock (with the exception of heavy metal, which I hate).

To my ears I accomplished my goal. I just wanted to know what the audiophile capital of the world though of my system.

Anything I should upgrade? Change? Get rid of?

Did I make a good system for the money in your opinion?

Whats my weakest link?

Thanks for the comments! Any constructive critizism (sp?) welcome.

Breakdown of sepreate components:

-Audio Aero Prima CD: I payed $700 for this CD player, in my opinion it was worth MUCH more. The sound that it makes my system produce is just beautiful. Open and airy. But it is hard to describe the sound of this player because when you listen to it, you dont focus on details, you just let the music wash over you. I dont know about you guys, but I prefer it like that :)

Odyssey Audio Tempest\Stratos dual mono combo: All I can say about this amp\preamp combo is WOW! The power, slam, dynamics, clarity, timbre, neutrality, SOUNDSTAGE, imaging. Its all just so good, especially for this price, at any price, its a bargain! Only downside is it sucks 120 amps of current, now I have to hear my mom yell about the electric bill *rolls eyes*

Definitive Technology BP-7004's: Well, that one day that fate brought these into my hands, Ill tell you about it. I headed down to the dealer with my dad, looking for some speakers to spend my hard earned cash on. I auditioned some B&W's, Paradigms, Martin Logans, Totems, Polks, Sonus Fabers, and then....the Definitives. After hearing all those other breands, I was just shocked by this one. It was so fun, full of life, to me it was the closest thing to a real life performance you can get. So I bought them, simple as that :)

Ridge Street Cables: They helped me a very lot in my quest to achive a live sound, they are extremely musical, emotional, full, and accurate. After replacing these with my audience Conductors, I noticed an immeadite inprovement in liveliness, clearity, soundstage, and image sharpness. Robert is also a great guy to deal with!

Monster Cable (I know...I hate them too) HTS-5100 Signature Power Conditioner: BUT, one thing monster does do good is power conditioners. Not much to say, I hooked it up, I made a long term investment into my systems life span. I also heard some increase in clarity and depth. Also a bit more powerful and punch sound. Hey, it does what its supposed to, it cleans....power.

SVS 20-39 PCi: Wow, what a sub. The volume this thing puts out is incredible, while still maintaining accuracy and tightness. It also dosent overpower the mids and highs, its a perfect blend with the Definitive Techs built in powered subs. Worth every penny.

That about sums it up, I might add this is a beautiful looking system, all black, tall, slim towers. Wet black brushed metal amplifier with blue light up logo, same with preamp. Matching CD Player and Power conditioner. Not to mention cool looking cables and IC's.

Will have pics soon.

Again, please comment! :) Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think.

No im not a straight A student...Maybe its just that I dont care about school work nearly as much as my system. Haha. But yeah I dont plan on changing my speakers for a while, until another speaker can create that lager than life image that the Def Techs create. People say it sound unrealisitic, to me its the most real sound you can get under $20,000. But to each their own, thanks for the comments.

This, belive it or not is my first system. If you want to count my JVC shelf system I guess you could hehe. I kind of got myself into audio, I just love it, everything about it. I will post pictures soon, changing out my extremely ugly desk for a nice one, then pics. :) Thanks for the comments.
