This is the system I've spent three years of trial and error putting together. Lots of components were tried and then resold on Audiogon before I settled on these particular components. Everthing but the speakers were bought on Audiogon. Total investment: About $2400. It all sounds absolutely amazing. On well recorded material, truly, you are there!! I'm VERY happy with this system. The one last thing I'm considering replacing are the speakers. They still sound great, but, speaker technology has improved greatly since I bought them in 1992. It's time to try something new, and I'm leaning towards either Axiom or Athena Technologies speakers.

Components Toggle details

    • Dynaco Dynaco Mk IV Mono-Blocks
    40w nickel-plated mono-blocks, circa 1961, all new capacitors, circuit boards, gold-plated RCA inpuit jacks, new gold-plated binding posts, etc... Now using Electro Harmonix EL34 output tubes and Amperex black-plate 7199's. These great looking vintage amps throw an amazingly wide and deep soundstage. Very fast and transparent in their updated form.
    • Dynaco Dynaco CDV-2
    Dynaco's last generation tubed CD player, built like a tank and great sounding.
    • Adcom GFP-715
    Adcoms latest generation, hi-res preamp, with a superb phono stage. VERY quiet, dynamic and transparent. A GREAT preamp for the money.
    • Entech 205.2
    A great, mid-priced 20-bit DAC that was on Sterophile's recommended list for several years. Compact and nice-looking too.
    • Infinity RS-625
    Full-range reference monitors, circa 1992, due for replacement soon, although they still sound great. That said, speaker technologhy has advanced greatly since 92', and I want to hear how this system will sound with some Axiom or Athena Technologies speakers.
    • Clarity Labs Emberglow
    1.0 meter, Canadian-made IC's specifically designed to bring out the best from tubed gear, hence the name

nice rig,how do you like your dynaco cd player?

i just bought a dynaco cdv-pro & im real curious as to how it stacks up against other players,also can you tell me about the heat factor,being that it runs on preamp tubes im suspecting that it dont get too hot.
