System edited: Upgraded to HDTV. Can hardly stand non HD TV anymore! Also OTA HD is superior to SAT DTV if you can get it.

Hey Homer,
Guess I shouda picked up the beer bottle and washed the windows, but I spent the night watching the opening scene in Gladiator and the bass wiped the windows clean and the highs broke the bottle. Now I gotta pick up that too, but I'd prefer to listen to a little Steely Dan on vinyl. I would appreciate any comments on room treatments though. I'm really not sure about bi-polars in front of windows, although I think they really sound good, but as I have no audiophille friends and no high end stores nearby it's hard to know. I know I have a lot of corners too and don't know if I should be dealing with those too. Anyone have ideas?

Hello Canuxican,
Well maybe, but have you seen the new Samsung dlp with the third generation Texas Instrument chip? Saw it at CC yesterday and I gotta say stunning. Great software package also with the ability to quickly switch the hue of green, red and blue with one quick button movement. I also read today my Denon 5900 is being replaced with a new unit cheaper and reportedly better. Then there is the new Hughes HD Tivo. And also Def Tech updated their flagship BP3000 with supposedly more musical BP7000 and my 2002's and 2004's have also been improved into the 7000 line. Hmmm, does it ever stop? Someday I'd love to get into tubes, but I don't know enough about them yet to start that trip and I'm broke for a while.

A little story about ears by the time one is old enough to afford reasonable equipment. I had just purchased the Gyrodec and the Cardas Frequency Burn in Record. About the third trac on the record is, I think, a 2500kz constant tone. My equipment limiting factor is about 30,000kz (who knows) so as I played this trac I heard nothing, so naturally I turned it up. I thought the vinyl was faulty or my stuff just couldn't handel it. About that time my children who were upstairs, down a long hallway, and in a bedroom with the door shut began screaming. They wanted to know what the God awfull sound was that was hurting their ears. And so it goes...
BTW, my wife is a very understanding person about this stuff and I'm amazed she has let met take over the TV room with these speakers and stuff. Gotta love her.
