Beeeautiful! Very nicely executed. Elegant room, clean installation, and top notch mating of equipment. Great job on the power as well. Room and power are so important to getting the most out of a system.
Very nicely done. One of the better systems I've seen here on Audiogon, and you certainly covered the details. Can you tell me more about the Equi-Tech?
Thanks for comments. Room is 15' x 25' by 8' with a 6' opening in the left wall starting about 1' in front of the left speaker. Listening position is 12' from front of speakers. Gilda (a very nice lady fron Trinidad who works for me) keeps everything clean and is very careful around the equipment.
As to preamps, I would be very happy to reach that conclusion after some auditions, but I would appreciate any recommendations for that process.
I listen to all kinds of music: blues (Doug MacLeod, Terry Evans, Sam McClain), bluegrass, jazz (classic and modern), folk, rock (Stones, Procul Harum, Taking Back Sunday), female vocals (Laura Nyro, Rebecca Pigeon, Amanda Marshall), much chamber, Puccini, some large orchestral (especially Mahler) and lots and lots of DAVE'S TRUE STORY!
Great looking system and one you have clearly spent time getting right. What sort of music do you listen to and how big is the room? I would second the comment about the preamp in the dcc2. There are a lot of benefits to having it in one package and the sound proves it, I think.
Txlef: I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you start your comparisons with the DCC 2 through another preamp and on it's own. I have yet to hear another preamp in my system that betters the DCC 2 running direct.
I love your system! The room looks beautiful. Who keeps it so clean? :)
Pics added. Neuance shelves are very very nice. Better bottom end and no smear in treble. Best isolation platform I have tried, but note that my rack (Salamander) is not the best (wife drew a line here for some reason).
Great system(like you needed me to tell you that!) I am curious about your Neuance shelfs- are you using them with the DCC2 and modified philips? if so what are your impressions? I am looking for some sort of "platform" and the nueance is on the top of my short list- I nearly ordered them 6 months ago for my meitner gear but at the time I didn't have the weight of the DAC.
incredible set up! I think people forget about how important power is. You seem to definitely have that base cover. great power cords and transformer. Any picts?
