This is called my "2nd Go-Around" because I'm re-doing the whole room and much of the system after a fire in the Man Cave. I'm still re-building the system. Right now I have lots of ways to compare the sound of configurations; switching between tube and SS amp, horn and electrostatic speakers, and three DACs.
As you can see, I re-created the shutter wall that covers the silver insulation tacked to the cinder block (and yes, there are lights behind the shutters, again). Because it's a basement I wanted to avoid water absorbing materials, I covered the walls with the white back-side of used billboard vinyl that is simply hanging from the ceiling. The ceiling is not a solid flat surface, but has holes going up to rock wool and joists. All of this means the room is the opposite of being 'live'.
These wonderful infinitely tune-able speakers are still playing after being in the room during the fire. I wonder if they sound good because they have undergone 'cryogenic treatment' but just in the opposite way than done normally; with heat instead of cold.
