Started the hifi game in the seventies while in 8th grade with David Hafler amp and preamp kits, Allison four speakers and a dual turntable. This is my main system. Man cave in basement for record storage and second system, Eico hf-81, garrard 301/klipsch la Scalia. Will post soon. Still 100 %vinyl.
The fan is by the modern fan company. As far as the treatment on the beams, the are beautiful Douglas fir. We simply shaved off the bottom 1/16 of an inch. No sanding or sealing.
The cables go down through the floor and pop up at the speakers. I redid my basement years ago. Perfect opportunity to sink cables underneath. As far as getting the amp out of the cabinet, i would agree, but it’s not going to happen. They've been in there 4 years and sound terrific. No troubles so far. They do get a fair amount of air through the f holes in back.
The heat inside the cabinet seemed a bit extreme to me. One of the plexi faceplates distorted slightly from the heat. Didn't want to ruin them. More importantly, i think they sound better(maybe I’m a little crazy) with them off. And yes. Chef in chicago.
