Hi Leon, great to have you by again. As usual your good taste in music and good ears are always welcome. The price / performance ratio is insane, another winner from BMC !
Hi Loyd, I am considering them for a customers new Room build out. I need to get with Paul and get them in, heard good things about them and your experience with them validates that, thanks ! We have plenty of room treatment in our showrooms so no need for them here. We are anxiously waiting the arrival of some new Tripoint goodies as well !
I do experience better timing and coherency from the Thor, its ability to disappear and let the music through keeps me engaged. When it comes to tonal purity and naturalness this is where it excels over other conductor types. I've heard many conductors types in different configurations, but nothing as pure in its voicing. Other highlights are its openness, immediacy, instrument density and the ability to unveil more tonal shades which make the experIence closer to the real live event. Thor unleashes the Troy Signature and in return makes music sound beautiful. I listen to mainly Jazz music but I can definitely relate to your experience. Hope this helps.
Hi, the THOR technolgy is the most advanced in the Tripoint audio cables. The best way for me to illustrate the difference is that their is a dramatic improvement in the ability of the music's message, emotional enagement and overall naturalness of the presentation. It like the TROY is on steroids!! I use all THOR cables in my setup and have heard the same technology on prototype speaker cables at a friend's home and it was an amazing transformation of his system.
HI Lloyd, The improvements are significant. There are a series of design and quality enhancements over the old MK1 and MK2 Troy which just makes this piece a BIG upgrade over the old units. In terms of what to expect in impact I would say the new Signature series will give you more , a lot more , of what the old Troy did. So far , I am hearing darker backgrounds, bigger soundstage, incredible bass articulation with thunderous dynamics a much, much, much greater ability to convey the emotion since there is greater level of grunge (EMi,RFI) interference removal from the components you ground. The New Signature Troy also has a built in Isolation platform which leads to much greater stability and effortlessness then the previous Troys. The Signature is truly magical ! with it you will be spinning your LPs or CDs for hours on hours and feeling the performance ! Having said this , you can get a used previous version and never audition the new Signature version and live very happy indeed.
System edited: Updating to reflect the following changes: Arrival of the New Troy Signature , TAD CR1s back in main room, Maestro Power Cord prototypes , and now using ALL BMC electronics via current injection mode. The system has never sounded so right.
System edited: Decided to dedicate this room for Jazz music only. Changed the Lansche No 3 to this room since it's texture and air in the mid and upper frequencies are a better match for Jazz.
HI Miguel, BMC Electronics are so transparent, fast and non-editorial and therefore will only give you what is there without adding anything else. This could be bad if your system's AC and grounding foundation is not up to par. I have found that cables are also extremely important and so far the Stereolab Master Reference balanced cables are the only winner, the simply get out of the way and transmit the audio signal with utmost integrity. The Tripoint Troy and other "goodies" :-) are just simply removing all the noise and the results are simply stunning ! Fully using the current injection mode from the MCCI Phono directly into the M2 mono blocs by passing all typical preamp gain and amp gain stages, simply and utterly direct, fast and transparent with incredible bandwidth and dynamics, add to that the Troy and the dimensionality and noise floor is jaw dropping. I wish Michael Fremer would have heard the MCCI phono under these conditions and fully connected in CI mode to the M2s along with the Tripoint Troy, I believe he would have to say that the BMC MCCI is one of the best phono's out there period, regardless of price. Oh, one last piece to the magic I am hearing, TAD CR1 speakers, they are able to reproduce everything mentioned above like no other speaker I have heard. I look forward to going on the road, perhaps a show or two to share the synergy found with other audiophiles.
Hi Andrew, yes you should. I think you are mainly using digital front end correct? There other very good live Jazz recordings under the CANDID label on CD which sound very good.
Thanks Agear ! It's a Milt Jackson Pablo LP , Pablo LP r tribute session to T. Monk with Ray Brown, Monty Alexander and Mickey Rorker on drums. Recommended !
This can give you an idea of what it sounds like. I will be doing with and without tripoint recordings for you all to hear the defference if possible via this medium.
I have compared the Troy to many other types of grounding concepts , filtration devices, etc. but I find it to be the best voiced and most effective of them all. The only product I have not tried is the ENTREQ but I have heard reviewers have preferred the Troy after owning both.
System edited: Miguel from Tripoint Audio visited our showroom and gave a demo of the new and improved TROY which be called the TROY Signature and the improvement is substantial, at least 30-40 % better than standard version and sporting a new more sophisticated look. It is transformational and even the standard TROY had no competition now this new signature model simply crushes all other copy cats out there.
Hi Arnie, I have a combination of wall mounted bass traps from Michael Green and custom diffusors. I also have a big bass 48x24 trap which is mounted on the front wall very high up on the ceiling where the wall and the ceiling meet.
System edited: Changed to demo TAD Compact Reference speakers in our main room with BMC all BMC electronics. We are now an authorized TAD dealer, electronics arriving soon!
Waiting for the Ypsilon DAC and Transport top arrive down the road Lloydelee21. I will definitely share then but taking the performance of other Ypsilon gear I am expecting phenomenal performance.
Regarding the differences between the BMC DAC and Ypsilon DAC, the Ypsilon is a non oversampling design but it is 24/192 capable, no usb input though. The BMC DAC does have usb input.
