This's my second system now, but the main for long time until I recently assembled the new one with great used components like Thiel and so on.
You can see DIY modification on Adamantes loudspeker, I improved the acoustic performance of the cabinets applying internally some lead sheets glued with polymer MS to ensure a perfect coupling in order to lower the resonance frequency: the result is amazing! Noticeable improvement for bass extension and control.
Also the DAC is DIY based on modified ECHO AUDIOFIRE 4 board and connected to the MacBook via Firewire.
I continue to enjoy a lot the performance of this old setup, very clear and amazing sound specially thinking to the loudspeakers size, for sure a good match with the Sugden A class amplifier, few but very good watts indeed.
Hi Mike, yes, also some friends of mine have noticed this new appearance and liked it, the red copper knobs in that black panel add a touch of warmth and a fresher look, I like it.
Few days ago I added my last mod, the original black aluminium knobs have been replaced by solid copper ones handmade with a lathe machine starting from a bar and subsequently protected with clear paint against oxidation......I know, SQ is the same but I like the new look and the feeling rotating these very heavy knobs! ...:-)
Yes, I can confirm that the A21a require large room around and anyway it runs very hot all the time and not depending by the volume level, but you can enjoy its very high sound quality. i found it has great synergy with Adamantes speakers, impressive deep bass and refined and sweet highs. Despite its low power the dynamic is very satisfactory too.
