Have you heard the demo Talon Ravens down at SoundWorld? Not the panache of the PerregrineXs but a good price at any rate. I actually went to hear them last winter and they refused to "set them up" (aka plug cables into them) for me...as a result, I will never buy anything besides record fluid from them ever again...but I digress...you don't have dreads so they might actually let you hear them.
Nate, you didn't tell me about the Talons--how are they? Have you settled on these for a monitor? (hauntingly familiar speakers in that one pic btw--my, you must have good taste ;)
