This is the best system I have ever heard. I have owned and heard many expensive speakers and none come close to the Shahinian Diapasons. The bass is absolutely concussive. The Double Eagle subwoofers pressurize the room and are capable of impact that is akin to body blows. The mids and highs are breathtakingly real. The music emminates from the modules in a 3 dimensional bloom with a realism that blows away even the best electrostatics. The notion that Shahinians are for classical only is just plain wrong. I enjoy all types of music on these speakers.
I had an electrician install a dedicated panel for the system. He used all square D 20 amp breakers with individual runs of 10 gauge wire to cryogenically treated hospital grade Hubbel outlets. Each amplifier has its own breaker.
Wow. I've wondered what Shahinians sound like ever since I saw them on the TotallyWired (New Zealand) website. I was looking for SlinkyLinks interconnects at the time and saw these speakers that I never heard of. Wow. They sound like they are really worth a listen based on your enthusiam.
Stan, I think the next point you should take a look at are your speaker cables. When I got my Diapasons, there was KImber cable from the old owner included. It was either 4TC or 8TC. It was a fine cable, but then I tried the LAT International SS-1000, running two sets of cables to the Double Eagle and the Diapason module. The result was spectacular: Much more, better defined bass right away, and after the cables were run-in (that took several weeks, however), I got better sounstaging, more natural voices, the wohole audiophile dream-program. LAT offers a 45-day-trial-period in the US, and they are dirt-cheap for what they do. Just a thought.
i have had two pre amps that work well with shahinians and bedini amps. 1) spacial coherence (hard to find, worth the effort and not very expensive. 2) joule eletra 100 (some have phono) either will take you to another level. also, an internet search for an accuphase d-65 cd will be time well spent. that system should hold you for a while. good listening
