For the enjoyment of music. Lot's of changes over the years. I typically won't buy something unless I can listen to it in my system. Spending a lot of time recently searching out well recorded and interesting music via hi res downloads. I have a really nice vinyl collection mostly Jazz and pop. Digital I'm filling out my classical titles and more modern recordings. Jan '16

Thanks for the description. For the Atlas to have more detail than the Allaerts I find surprising as the Allaerts has more detail than the Titan. Got me thinking or maybe I read you wrong. Mind you the Allaerts is incredibly natural. I need to try it on my Schroder. Just lazy and happy as is.
How would you compare the Allaerts to the Atlas? Is it too early. The Atlas is tempting but the Anna is getting some nice feedback as well. I still love my Titan.
I had a Tron 7. It might just be best of both worlds. The newest one is supposed to be much better than what I owned many years ago. That might be a very smart move.
The extra gain of a new phono won't be an upgrade. It will be like hearing the cartridge the 1 st time in your system. It is that important. My tube phono has 62 db of gain. The VTL per about 18. I need to go very high for the Allaerts on my pre volume control. But with the Pass things are much better. Actually, if you can do an in home trial on the XP25 you might be impressed. Reno hifi comes up a lot as a recommendation.
I enjoy having both a tube and SS preamp.
I am also waiting for what is next from Lyra. But I dont plan to ever part with the Titan. I just think I got lucky with mine and honestly won't even move it off the arm to try it on a different arm. It is just too good. But I listen to both the MC2 & Titan I almost equally.
If you ever want to visit Aruba and do some comparisons feel welcome.
Just saw you have the MC2 Finish. Congrats. I find it has more detail than the Titan I. It is special and with the Pass XP25 the bass rocks.
I wonder how you find the Skala to have more detail than the MC2. I always found the Skala a little on the thin side.
I love my Totan I. I find the only weakness to be detail. But it has so much body that I just don't care. I can't imagine Lyra bettering it just getting a different balance.
Don't underestimate the Skala / Triplanar combination. One of the great matches that I have heard a few times. I prefered the Skala to the MSL & PC1 in different ways. And room treatement is like purchasing new speakers. If I had your speakers where I would be today (heaven?)
I had the Rex. It runs very very hot. If I rememer, 18 tubes total. If you have great synergy leave it. If anything get a new cartridge at some point to compare. But your system is excellent. A Titan I or a Colibri (which is very synergistic in an SME V).
I am going to make it a point to listen to them. Your description is the same as I was told by 1 other person. I assume the mids are better as well. It is tough year for me as everyone. This is a year I go slow on the merrygo round.
Beautiful system. I have been looking at your system direction for a while now. Some similarities to mine. A personal recommendation - although maybe a tough move now - get a 2nd cartridge/arm combination. It will be a ton of fun. Especially w. the new speakers.
