@adamand Sorry for late reply. The Shunyata Venom cables have worked well in my system. I was attracted to them because of the positive reviews, Shunyata's reputation for quality, and the affordable price. To be honest, I didn't spend any time doing A/B tests. I just put them in, listened, and stopped thinking about it. I couldn't really tell you, "oh they sound like this or that". I use the Venom 3 on my REL sub and the Venom High Current on my ARC amp. They feel good and have decent flexibility to them, which helps with routing them behind my equipment. Thanks for responding about tweeter hiss. If my hiss went away, I'd be happy, but I've since learned to just be okay with it. It's not a big deal since it cannot be heard from more than a few feet away with no music playing. No effect at all with music on.
@rasnum Sorry for late reply. Haven't seen this in quite a while. Sweet looking system you have! I actually hadn't considered selling my Revels all this time because I really do like them. But I'll change speakers some day. I'm actually always open to swapping things out. I just don't know of anything I like better at this point...that I could afford. I'd like to give a listen to the Monitor Audio PL200II this weekend at my dealer. They're twice the price of the F208s.
@sjtm Our border collie pup is named Nagbe (after the Portland Timbers soccer player). He's 11 months old and listens to music more than any dog I know!
@milpai Yes, I'm quite pleased with the aesthetics of the Revel F208. The wood finish looks great both in low and high light. But of course, it's all about the sound and I have been VERY happy with them. There are lots of reviews about this speaker online. I would point you to the Stereophile review most of all. These speakers replaced my Dali Ikon 2 mkII bookshelf speakers. The Revel's play much louder without strain, with much better bass, and offer great detail without the fatiguing brightness of the previous speakers. I also really like the wide, even dispersion of the F208s. They fill the room better and even sound noticeably better from other rooms in the house! I have never needed to use the bass level controls, but the tweeter adjustment is nice (though not really needed) on rare occasions when some recordings are too hot and sibilant. While I am generally a fan of subwoofers for almost all speakers, I did acquire this REL sub back when I had the bookshelf speakers and it was more of a necessity. Paired with the Revels, the REL T7 doesn't add much in the lower frequencies, but I do like it slightly better than no sub at all. Proper bass management is a big priority for me and I'm looking forward to upgrading to a DEQX at some point in the future and using it's electronic crossover to unburden the speakers from reproducing the lowest frequencies and passing them off to a pair of JL Audio E110s. I've uploaded a slide detailing this potential future upgrade.
