Description

this room and system is the result of 10 years in High End audio. my system has been stable for a couple of years (except for transport and amplifier upgrades within the same brand). the room has been in the planning stage for about 18 months and i actually moved in a little over a month ago.

my audio philosphy is to have the system get out of the way of the event. i like as pure and simple a signal path as possible and, at this point, prefer passive to active gain stages. i love all the formats and enjoy having lot's of music.....vinyl is my favorite but i listen to at least 60% digital. the new room really reveals the benefits of SACD over redbook.

the system and room truely allow the event to be recreated before me. i love the way the speakers disappear and i am transported to another place/time.

i have choosen my cables, sources, amps, speakers to have as little of their own sound as possible.

recently, i upgraded my digtial transport from the modified Philips SACD 1000 to the new emmlabs CDSD.....this was a significant step upward in performance.

Hi Mike, I've frequented Ken's website over the years to. Right now I have a Nikon D300s and a 16-85dx lens and a Tokina DX 11-16mm lens. The Tokina is pretty nice...it's what I took my whole room pic with on my system page.

I might have to try the 50mm lens...I've been also wondering about upgrading to the D600 and the FX format...Thanks for the info

Wow i have never heard about this RCM. Plus your pics are just killer...didn't you get a new camera recently? Tripod or hand held? I kinda wonder if the KL and the ultrasonic + a final clean by your Loricraft might be a match made in vinyl heaven?

Thinking the ultrasonic get's everything possible dislodged from the grooves and the Loricraft (or something like my Monks) sucks everything else up...

Also have to wonder if some cleaning agent (AVS, MoFi, Monks Fluid, etc etc) in the ultrasonic...then the Loricraft for a pure rinse...

Just thoughts...I bet you may already be thinking of these options (and frowning on the time to experiment!)

Hi This is what we did at Albert's recently. Cleaned using his Oddesey (sp?) listened, cleaned again via the ultrasonic listened (much better) then a rinse on the oddesey again (even better).

Fred I agree with you. We only had time to do this to 3 or 4 lp's, but it was a consistent outcome. The ultrasonic must "scrub" loose more material then the vacumn type machines can more easily remove.

Anyway, our ears weren't lying. And you and I have had similar results...

thanks I just went back and read your earlier post. I have heard that same cleaner at Albert's a few months ago. I had the same conclusion to. I wonder if it's the ultrasonic part really making the difference? Anyway who cares if it sounds great :)

Hi Mike I've been reading your comments on the A90 with a lot of interest. I'm running a Lyra Skala on my Triplanar right now (Grand Prix Monaco table).

Have you tried the Lyra Olympos on your Tri? And how might you compare these two (a90 vs olym)? I know there is a price diff, for this question only curious on the sound diff. About the only other thing I am thinking about is a Air Tight Supreme...I've heard this at Albert's and love it.

Mike, I just got back from Albert's house last night. I was very familiar with his Aesthetix and Walker/Technics Mk II from about a year ago.

The Allnic plus Technics MK III is quite a system. Wow is about the right word. I just posted a few commments (umm compliments :) (maybe it was druel :) on Albert's system post. I certainly can understand your appreciation for the SP 10 MK III. It's quite a table.

Have you tried your Lyra Olympos on a Tri Planar? I read your comments above. I am running a Lyra Skala in my Tri Planar (with Grand Prix Monaco TT). I am very curious if the Olympos should be my next step...any more comments you can share on the Olympos I'd appreciate.
