lordcloud - I just now see your question.
My current digital set up is a Mac Pro tower with NOS DAC and tube gain stage. I removed all the fans in the Mac Pro to eliminate vibration.

I no longer use that CD player so I did not get a chance to compare.
I did compare my current digital set up against that CD player.
My current digital set up is significantly better than that CD player.

The Ampex ATR-102 in stock form is only a little bit better than my digital.
I have to A-B back and forth to tell the difference.
