Pretty happy with things. Outboard amp for the JMlabs, nice plasma hanging on the wall, dual subs, good universal player and a respectable reciever for the price range. :)
System edited: Just bought myself a lil xmas present. Panasonic DVD recorder with a 100gb hard drive. With the schedule i have most decent TV programming is over after i get off work, so now i can set this bad boy up and be able to record the shows, edit out the commercials, and burn them to DVD :)
about 3 months ago i knocked a hole in my wall and recessed the stereo equipment. Got the amp on the ground with the subs. plasma is now hung, center speaker is hung. all in all a very cool sleek look, plus now that i got all the crap out from between the speakers my imaging is back. :)
So. i dont think ive been on here in months. Still doing the same thing, been working on the car quite a bit, that is a new hobby that dominates a lot of my time. Im not exactly sure how or when but i just kinda fell out of the whole audio thing. certainly easier on the wallet. I think im actually just quite pleased with my modest system.
Last night i had a nice long listening session, it was great. I cant remember how long it has been since i have done that. This was after i took my girlfriend home after i found out she was nailing some other guy. All in all im ok with that, only been seeing her a month or so and really diddnt have a whole lot of emotional attachment. She caused me quite a few problems though, so good riddance.
So audiobugged, i think im up to 285 now.
I kind of hit quite an achoholic spell for a while. I guess i kinda lost my desire for anything. Not really a depressed mode, just lost my direction for a while. My liver absolutly despises me right now. Just living to get drunk and forget. I think it was a midlife crisis, ill be 29 soon (yeah not that old) but i've just been relativly unsatisfied with almost all aspects of my life. This past several weeks ive really started to pull out of the slump. Ive made some friends, lost some friends, and really hadnt done anything for myself. At some point i kind of woke up. Realized where i was isnt where i want to be, and now im working on a plan to free myself from that which holds me back (mortgage, bills, stuff like that). I hope by 2007 ill be able to pack up and move elsewhere and start over. It gives me a pretty good goal though, get out of debt, pay off bills instead of bar tabs, all that junk.
anyways, im kind of rambling on. im doing pretty good for the first time in quite a while. at least seeing some sunlight.
Audiobugged, 281 seems about right by now. This is getting a little out of hand. In 10 years i'll probably have 20-30 teenagers come to me claiming to be my kids. Ill try to get some pics of the panny put up in the next week or so.
Albert, That is a damn fine car. The mach 1's are awesome. If they had any available when i got mine i woulda definatly gone with the DOHC. Nice car, make sure he appreciates her and keeps her clean and running smooth!
These cars sure are addictive, ive been working on putting on 8 inch wide rally stripes with pin striping that will be about 3/4in to the sides of the rally stripes. Took about an hour to pull off the stock stripes, these new ones when done will go from the bottom of the front bumper all the way to the bottom of the rear. So far i have the hood, trunk, and down the rear done. Still need to do the front bumper and hood of the car, couldnt be happier with how they are turning out. The whole kit costs 34 bucks from Rallystripes.com and is extremly easy to do if you follow the instructions on the site. So if your son wants a cheap visual upgrade that will really stand his Mach 1 out from the rest, that is one way to do it. You should also tell him to check out www.mustangtuning.com, great online store, free shipping on any order over 50 bucks, and a great forum section with some people who might be able to answer any mustang-specific question he could have.
Galeriehughie, That sure is a generous offer! I might have to take you up on that! Just let me know.
System edited: Added Definitive Technologys Mythos 7 center channel Pretty happy with the performance, i needed something that was under 4 inches in height. This perfectly fits the bill.
Yah, Since the woman left i decided to stop waxing my back. Saw her last night on a date with another guy. Grrrr. just as im starting to get over her i get that kick in the stomache
anyways.
Yah the TV is working out pretty good, i have it wallmounted now, i for a SANUS walmount from overstock.com for 100 bucks, and tomorrow i FINALLY get to pick up my HD box from comcast, they said i couldnt have one untill they get a large shipment cause i already have an HD box on my account. That box, is located in the basement in my roomates room. I really dont have access to it. So tomorrow ill be in good shape.
Galeriehughie, ive been wanting a center channel, problem is with the old TV which you see in the pic, i have no room for one. Now with the panny plasma i can sit it where the old TV was. I dont suppose you are looking to seperate with that JM Lab center?
Yah, i totally dig the Panny. its a new model, 7th gen plasma screen. They stripped some pricy features off like PIP and cable card, but i dont ever use PIP and the cable card doesent allow you to access ON-DEMAND. However, the built in tuner is good for pickin HD off the air. It is EDTV not HD though, but i sat there for a long while watching HD on this set and the HD model next to it, but at my viewing distance the difference between the two is almost non existant. couldnt justify the extra 600 for the HD.
Yah damn woman left. I dont get it. Everything going great, about 6 months, then all of the sudden she isnt ready for a relationship.
Whatever. The TV is hotter.
Go through a lot of women? you should see me when i'm single and really get into the game. I dunno, maybe it is time to go for an older woman. Im 28, she was 24. maybe i oughtta look for 30ish.
Thanks! I totally dig that cabinet. the last open-air glass rack i had collected dust like dahmer collected body parts. ROFL What?... too soon?
anyways,
Lets see, on the stang, I got K&N cold air intake, and an x-pipe with straights and chrome tips. A lot of appearance mods since they are so cheap. Got the 8inch black attena, the fender and rear 281 badges, i had the fender ones custom made with "support our troops" beneath it. Also a couple interior dressup items. 9mm holow point bullit door locks etc, etc.
i want to get a new plentum and throttlebody and a chip tuner as well. that is about all i can do without voiding the warranty. (thank god the chip tuners can put the stock tune back in)
I also plan to get some new rims. like the ones on there but with gloss black, 17 x 9 in the front and 17 x 10.5 deep dish in the rear, as well as a set of racing springs which will lower the car about 1 - 1.25 inches and give it a slightly more aggressive stance.
Then i want to get rid of the stock stripes (stickers) and get a pair of silver 8 inch rally stripes painted from the chin of the front all the way to the bottom of the rear bumper. :)
System edited: I got my Dayton Audio isolation cones yersterday and got em in my system. With the new rack im kind of strapped on space so i cannot use em under my components, but i put a set beneath each subwoofer and under my speaker stands. Trying to decide if i like it. The Sub bass seems to have tightened up a bit, but the image seems a little blured. Then again, with the new rack in im not really sure which is the cause. Under the speakers, is that a bad place for isolation cones? I really dont have any experience with these.
System edited: Welp, i finally got my Denon POA-2800 back from the repair shop and put back into the system. Some loose solder connections on the power supply were causing a +5vdc offset. Good times. :) I also added a 1/2 meter pair of Audioquest copperhead interconnects from the Pre-outs on the AVR3805 to the POA2800. Im pretty happy with where this system is going. Still gonna be putting some upgrades in here and there, maybe some better cables and such, but i think im gonna live with this for a while before i do any major upgrades. Maybe some new surround speakers, but that is pretty low on the priority list as i do everything in stereo except for DVD movies. Got the new TV stand as well, it raised the TV about 7 inches and the EMI from the subwoofers and L/R channels no lonmger seems to be an issue, so i got both subs back in play. I will try to get some updated pics posted soon. :)
LOL Nope! Actually, i dont even need the magnets anymore! :) I got my new TV stand, just enough room for all my gear, i got both of my subwoofers back in the system, and withthe 7 inch increase in TV height im able to get the speakers AND subwofoers both closer to the TV without any trouble.
I ordered four sets of Dayton Audio Black Chrome Isolation Cones (16 total) Not sure the best place to put them so i figured i should pick up a bunch and put em under everything.
I plan on using 3 cones per unit, probably 3 under each subwoofer, 3 under the denon3805, 3 under the Denon2900, and 3 under the amplifier when i get it back from the repair shop. That leaves me 1 spare cone. Whoo hoo! Maybe i will throw it at somone.
I wasnt intending to get them, i was actually looking for some bucking magnets so i could shield my speakers since they interfere with my TV so i have to have them pretty far apart. Bought 10 magnets, 4x3.5oz, 4x6.5oz, and 2 13oz. I really wasnt sure of the size needed im figuring 1 3.5 per tweeter, 1 6.5 per woofer, and i plan to use the 13oz magnets on the subwoofers. This leaves me 4 magents, but since they are so cheap i thought i would grab some extras.
System edited: Updated, Replaced the Monster wire cpeaker cable with AudioQuest Type 6 speaker cable. Only have a few more monster cables to phaze out!
Thats too bad Nrchy, im sure your system is still bigger than mine though. LOL Been there done that buddy, not with the extent of gear that you own(ed), but thats a real stinger having to unload some excellent gear.
You know what i hated? selling my gear at excellent price (25 cents on the dollar) to get money as fast as possible and people low-balling me even more. Yah. Thanks asshole. Hope you enjoy f*cking me out of my shatteredd dreams. Sleep well motherf*cker, if i ever catch you in an ally im gonna beat the price i wanted out of you. LOL Time for some Ham-Hock-Hell!
just remember, things could always get worse, and im sure you will build yer system back up.... hopefully faster than i have been able to!
Ill give that a shot. Blending sub/sats always kind of sucks to do. I couldnt get the paradigm/velo combo dialed in worth a crap. This combo is pretty smooth. Im keeping the subs about 1/3rd the way up, works pretty good that way, i dont get much bloat on them. I think the crossover on the sub will go down to 40hz, if not, i can just turn off that crossover and use the one in the Denon.
Those 707s's are actually 92db, they do offer pretty good bass responce that is for sure. I have a pair of Velodynes crossed over at 80hz and they blend in very nicly. In fact, with music, the Velo and 707s's blend so well that it doesent SOUND like there is a subwoofer, but the low extention is definatly there.
Heh. You tube guys are all the same! Not a bad idea though... If i went with tubes what should i consider for minimum power? This has to pull double duty as HT as well as music. I know wattage doesent tell you everything, and i know even less about tube amps. Any recs?
Welp, i got rid of the Paradigms. I think that was the shortest amount of time i ever spend with a speaker. The 9SeMKIII's just werent for me. Currently my friend is using them and is going to buy em off of me for about what i paid.
The Denon POA-2800 is out of the system cause it was a POS. It sounded great, but it is suffering from some technical problems. When included into the system it made the drivers stand out about 1/4 inch constantly. My impression is that is a BAD thing.
The new addition is a pair of JM Lab Chorus 707S monitors, and let me say i really like these. I bought them used from a local dealer about a week ago for 488 bucks, along with a pair of 16inch Stand-design speaker stands which have been filled and bolted to the 707s.
So now im just powering them with my Denon AVR-3805. Hopefully in the next several months or so i will be able to free up a grand and get a good amp to go with these.
All in all im really pleased with the way the 707's sound with the 3805. I recently had about a week off and spend quite a lot of time listening to music. More than i did with the Radioshackers or Paradigms.
Any reccommendations for a good amp to work with the Chorus 707's for under 1k new or used?
Heh... naa, they have served me well for a pair of $10 garage sale speakers. they will probably find thier way out to the garage for a system out there.
System edited: SYSTEM UPDATED. Got some Paradigm 9seMkIII's Overall, they kick the living crap out of the old radioshackers ever way imaginable. This rig is about to the point where im gonna leave it alone for some time. I want to replace the center channel still, but other than that im gonna take a bit of a break from spending money on my system. Unless of course i have an extra couple bucks and find a killer local deal.
God, thinking of psycho babes, i was at my favorite local bar and found the chick who mauled me the other night, all over some scrubby loser. Man, the claw marks havent even healed on ME yet!
Slappy got... played?
Well, somehow i think i still came out on top. (laugh)
System edited: Welp, Here is an update. I picked up a pair of Velodyne DLS-4000s and some audioquest cableing for about $500 under MSRP. So far i like these subs, but i just put them in and really have not had a chance to listen to them. The right velo is connected to the LFE off then Denon 3805, and the Left Velo is connected to the pre-outs for the main l/r channels. I had to disconnect my amp for this setup, but the thing has been acting up on me latley. All i can say is it is a MASSIVE improvement over that stupid little sub that came with the HTIB i bought to get me by after i had to sell off my last rig. Next upgrade will probably be the main speakers, or the center channel. I have been trying to upgrade from the weakest link and up. Right now the radioshackers sound way better than the center channel. The center is just small and shitty, it gets somewhat unintelligable with male voices sometimes, so i SHOULD go ahread and replace that next cause i like to watch movies, however, i think i will probably do the speakers next. It is still nothing fantastic, but it is definatly getting better. Im really not too worried about HIGH-END on this rig, this will just be my HT setup, and personally for HT Mid-fi is fine with me, still beats any cineplex. When i start on my 2 channel rig, i will alot a higher budget. So here it is folks. Bad roomate choice, get evicted, sell off rig to pay costs, buy HTIB, stasis for almost a year, then the girlfiend leaves me and all of the sudden i have money to upgrade the system again.
I will. Gotta get some more up-to-date photo's going. will probably have them up in a couple weeks, once i get my computer running and a wireless adapter so i can get back on the net.
I will post some fun pics soon, i will even include a few pics of my gear, the dogs, and whatever else i can find. My speakers still have that contact paper my ex put on there. hahahaha
