Looking at your lovely equipment lineup, I admire how and what you have assembled.
I met Mr. Wilson at Definitive Audio, the local HiFi shop's Annual show and Tell. That was a couple of years back. The large Wilson speakers were very impressive with the Ayre amp and Pre. I think a pair of Wilsons are surly in my future. I bought a pair of Quad ESL63's from a fellow that had purchased new Watt Puppies, they sounded great in his place. The EAR amps are very much to my liking and the ModWright Instruments preamp is a near perfect match. I am looking for an EAR phono stage next. I also have in the mix a Modwright 9100ES Platinum Signature Truth tube SACD/DVD player.
The ClearAudio is the only TT without a dust cover and the dust-o-disc cover looks like a great solution! Thx
I've always enjoyed the wide, deep, transparent soundstage and "like you are there" sound of planar speakers especially for 50's 60's Hard Bop Jazz, string quartets, acoustic guitar, and vocals. The fussy location for optimal sound is a downside of many planers. The NewForm speakers are not well known but the long ribbon provides an almost limitless sweet spot. Also they are much more forgiving in placement than the other planers I have had/have like: Acoustat, Quad, Martin Logan.
The windows present a major challenge, mostly at robust volume. 10 plus hours of listening can fly by and it is 4AM before I know it.
The old basement listening room is now a theater in the works.
