This was my first dedicated music room and was a ton of fun. Music in the front, party in the rear. Had a poker table, fridge and keg. in the back of room, plus a dedicated cabinet for my record cleaning machine. I hosted many a party in this custom built room. I Built the room in the top of my old barn. Totally climate controlled for the vinyl. Custom built oak cabinets mounted in the walls, then trimmed in oak for the book case effect. The sloped ceiling was a plus for the acoustics and also worked great for mounting lights above each cabinet. The system set up on a stage which was 12x8 with oak steps the full length.
Terrible piece of gear, constantly off speed. Best thing about this was the cart. zyx which I purchased from Lugnut.
Supratek Audio tube pre-amp.
By far my favorite piece of gear! Purchased from Vetterone, used. Hand built in Australia by Mick. Had to find one of these gems now that Mick has slow production to just a few custom pieces a year....highly recommend this pre amp.
Linn LP-12 Sondek
Another Lugnut must have, lol. Running this one with the Akito t/a and a ZYX yatra2 cart. with other upgrades.
Linn LK-85
Modest Linn amp, but sounds great with the tube pre.
Fisher Mono block tube amps
This were nice little vintage AZ-80 mono's that were completely redone...they have since found a new home...
Tannoy Sensys DC-1
Purchased new in Portland, am the original owner. Awesome speakers, with the stands and a matching sub. They have a great presence and pack a punch, very dynamic speakers in a small package.
Hi Jond, Wish I could make the pic's bigger, but unfortunately It affects the pixels and turns it to mush, lol. Those are old pic's of music room #1 and I don't live there any longer. I'll be doing another update soon, with better pic's!!! lol...so follow along...Lugnut was a dear friend for many years and has the sweet spot in my music room...later...Ron.
Lugnut created the monster!!! "In the Beginning" began on a fine spring day while visiting with my dear friend, "Lugnut". He had been diagnosed terminal and had another great year ahead of him and wanted to know if I'd be interested in having him help me build a "SYSTEM". HA..I've always been into music and have always had a system, or so I thought...lol. I soon learned that I had a RACK system, not the same thing by any stretch of the imagination! So it began, I asked him how much he thought he could build me a system for..hmmm. Dumb question. He speculated about my budget and came up with $2500.00. Ha. Next thing was where was I going to setup this $2500.00 masterpiece? We went out to my 100'x50' barn and he points up to the open rafters and says...I'd put it up there! Six long weeks later my dedicated music room was done...climate controlled, dedicated power supply, audiophile plug ins, 10 custom oak cabinets installed in the walls to save space. ( Trimmed in oak with lighting for each cabinet ) So much for the budget!!! Wow, talk about a sleeper man cave, then came the downstairs restroom, with sink, for guests. Back to the system and the budget, yep that never happened, spent that much on my Supratek Syrah tube pre-amp alone...lol. I've been along time getting this tribute to lugnut posted, but better late than never. The system has come along way since that fine spring day and I've got my friend Pat to thank for that...more to come, this was just the beginning and It's been so long since I was on audiogon that I actually had to set up a new account. So will be updating my tribute soon...hope you enjoy!
