What a wonderful journey. Could you please write more about the differences between Harbeth 40.1 und 40.3 and between Canterbury and Westminster? And after all these years, which kind of music do you like most on the Harbeth resp. on the Tannoys?
Hi honeyooi, I have both ATE2 and ATC2 the ATE2 is find phonostage that can work as pre amp as well but I need the few more inputs so I'm keeping both. Thanks
So far my current amps drive them best ever Paul. They are AirTight ATM3 monos , ATC2, ATE-2 with ATH3 full set up. I love them. They can drive them any speakers with full flavour of tube and SS slam in to it.
As per SS , The LFD NCSE MKII was the best I ever heard.
What amps have you used with your 40.1's that brought you the most satisfaction? I've moved from the VAC 70/70 Signature to a VAC Phi 200... both quite good, just different flavors with the 70/70 excelling with vocals and jazz, while the Phi 200 being more neutral and performing better with rock and providing a quieter, blacker background.
Hi Jason, Very good question....The Harbeth has a better mid range and the O/96 was more dynamic however my choice would be the Harbeth for desert speakers. :)
Beautiful system. Love the Kronos tables, which made a great impression when I met Louis and got to hear them. Nice to see wise matches of amps/speakers. Enjoy,
Jeff, Thanks you for compliment. In regards to best speakers...I would say the Harbeth M40.1 is my top 3 all time favorite. No 1 is Tannoy Westminster :)
HI Honeyyooi , I used the EAR868 in my system and it was little too mushy to my ears. The ATC2 sounds more detail with more punch to it but without losing any tube sweet sounds. I would highly recommend it especially with AirTight amps .
Beautiful system. (Tannoy). I own the Canterbury GR and would love to hear the Tenor with Tannoy. I have owned a number of high end amps including Levinson, Vitus and Zanden. How do you describe the Tennor/Tannoy combo??
