KNGHIFI, Thanks for the tips! Have already installed Tuning Fuse. I did not get the phono section thus it runs very cool to the touch with only 4 tubes. Do plan on tube rolling after break in period!
Congrats on your VAC SigMKIIa. I have the same pre and like to offer some suggestions.
1. The pre runs very hot so have you consider getting open rack? 2. The pre is very sensitive to tube rolling. Many Agon members have the same pre so search the threads for info. 3. Replace stock fuse with after market. I'm using a HiFi Tuning Supreme. Direction matters ... this is the 1st component I can easily pick out the direction. Again search the threads for more info.
Went to TAS for their review and remembered this comment about the Sig connected to solid state amps "The system sound became warmer, more tubelike actually, with more emphasis on the smooth midrange, lovely scaling, and an even more organic flow to the music. My result is exactly the same!
Erdog, Just took delivery yesterday so not yet broken in nor have I had a lot of listening time. I will say this that it has brought the tube magic back to my system. While waiting for delivery I had my K-01 plugged directly into the Classe amps. I loved the sound but it was a bit sterile. With the VAC in the chain it has added warmth but will a slight loss in detail.
Bjesien, my VAC Sig Mk2a was ordered a month ago and is shipping from VAC today thus I have nothing to report. I also just added the Esoteric which is now feed directly to the Classes. Moved the OPPO to my surround system. Once the VAC arrives I am done with changes (I hope).
