I have been an audiophile for about 20 years. My system is the result of years of searching and listening. It is a mix of DIY and commersial pieces. The DIY stuff is mainly built/constructed by friends and craftsmen with the right skills, tools and knowledge. My own contribution is limited to assembly of pieces and soldering the speaker crossovers.
The crossovers will be upgraded with Duelund CAST PIO-cu and VSF-cu capacitors and Duelund CAST inductors. I am also working on a new rack that will allow me to use both my turntables.
The MacMini uses a tweaked Linux version optimized for the MPD player.

Thanks Charles! The system sounds good now imo. The last couple of years have been an audiophile adventure for me. I sold my Avantgarde Duo Omegas with just a vague idea where to from there. It had to be horns to match my 300b Border Patrol which i love! Nice to hear that the expensive Duelund componnents are woth the money spent. My experience with the resistors was so convincing that i have to check out what the caps and inductors can do.
I just placed my order for the Duelund stuff. I have only the CAST resistor in my crossovers at this time. Estimated deliverytime for the components is 10weeks so it will be some time until i can say something about the North Creek/Duelund CAST inductors, but i am really looking forward to hear what the Duelund components can do here. I'll check out the Jupiter caps! Thank you for the input!
Thank you Saletric. I have learned a lot from my DIY Projects and i am quite sure that DIY "cost no object" done right are pretty unbeatable. I feel more confident going DIY as an experienced audiophile than a newbie because a critical factor imo is knowing what you want. Unfortunately many audiophiles starts out with DIY only never to get the results they want, giving up the DIY path and buying commercial products. The problem lies in the many opportunities to alter the sound from the component, and lack of guts/knowledge/funding to put enough money into the project to get full potensial of the opportunity to build without thinking of calculations and profit.
