I've greatly enjoyed persuing people's Virtual Systems and looking at their cool pictures. I've had a system posted for about a year that has changed considerbaly since then, and never had any attached images. There's a good reason for that. I'm ashamed of my listening room. It's messy beyond belief, and some would consider unfit for high end audio.
Incredibly, I'm very happy with the results of my efforts. The room is approximately 12 x 14 feet, but has tons and tons of cabinets, desks and equipment. My 2-channel set up shares space with an HT seup, two computer stations, wall mounted bookcases, dressers and a bed.
I decided to post photos because some of you may want to see what that goofy Gunbei guy has at home. Well, if you look carefully you might notice a bathroom behind the left ProAc and a walk-in closet behing the right one. I have photos that better illustrate this, but I'm too shy to show them.
I promise, one day I will get this room together and pictures of a real system like the rest of you. But I've spent buying equipment and tuning my system to work in this bedroom/storage space, so I'm afraid if I clean it up the sonics will change completely.
You have to remember that Slappy is still quite young with an over-abundance of testosterone flowing through his veins. I think that if we can get Jax2 to start some stuff up, Slappy and everyone else will join in the chorus.
Ha. Ha. Yes, Jax2( our beloved Marco, with the wild imagination) has certainly made you very famous amongst the Audiogon members. I don't see too much in the threads lately from Marco as well. I think, maybe, that he also has gotten a little burned out, especially when he sees yet another one of his threads deleted by the moderators for no good reason. Sometimes it might be a good thing for us all to take a little hiatus from these threads just to appreciate some of the other finer things in life( like actually listening to and enjoying the music on our beloved systems(LOL). Being a neurotic audiophile( speaking strictly for myself), can be both a blessing and a curse at times. I find myself sometimes more caught up in the equipment than the music. There's surely got to be a happy balance. Happy Listening.
Hey Dean! I wish that everyone would understand that you named yourself after the great Japanese warrior Gunbei( pronounced Goom-bay) and not that green, slanted-head Gumby. That silly Jax2 sure got carried away with it, didn't he? By the way, how is your Dad doing? Does he need any more Sansui stuff? I'm in a generous mood and want to send him something. I'm glad you're enjoying your system, but your posts are declining. Either you've got the burned-out syndrome or maybe you've been just plain busy in your career.
I thought I'd chime in. Nice system, Dean. What did you do with all the Virtual Dynamics cabling? I looked closely at the pictures and didn't see that Sansui 1000X receiver either. I guess Dad's got it in "his" room. Happy Listening. Sherod
