Curious to know how the Sonos X W4S unit is working out? I'm considering a similar scenario to expand some wireless speaker options around the house. Thanks!
Agear.. I haven't seen or heard the "Orbs" They'd work ok in my kitchen/family room in bookcases, but they're are far too strange for my living room.. I'd have to have the stands and you need the Dialog device and I'm not sure all their software is ready for prime time..
Erik, have you heard the Devaliet Orbs? What is the price differential between those and the Dynaudio product? I had a perverse that a while back about creating a 5-channel HT system around the Devaliet beasts....
Yes I'm considering a pair of the Dynaudio Xeo 6 or the XD Focus .. I'm struggling over the difference in price.. because I want to be true to myself I'm struggling not buy the expensive Focus XD because of the audiophile nervosa..so I'll either go with the XD 600 or XD 400 or the XEO 6..
Hi Erik, I supected it's that "endless pursuit of better sound" syndrome. I believe you'll be fine as you refocus on just enjoying your music and being appreciative of what you have.
Good for you. Far too often in audio, the emperor has no clothes. When you say powered Dynaudios, are you talking the little wireless entities? What about Devaliet's little Orbs?
Thanks folks.. I've made some decisions about what needs to matter in my life. Accumulating expensive STUFF and the endless pursuit of better sound and small improvements is no longer important. I'm looking at just a powered pair of Dynaudio's for the living room..Everything is going up for sale over the next few weeks :-)
I was jesting of course. Erik, congrats and enjoy your new freedom. This hobby is ultimately about equipment. You can find joy in music with an iPod, car radio, etc. I have....
Charles stated it perfectly in my opinion. The Love of music, which to me is the truest art form, allows us to celebrate the Love we have for each other, clearly.
It's been my contention that the entire point of having an audio system is to allow the pleasure of listening to music in our homes. The ability to enjoy music we love at our convenience is a wonderful option at our disposal. I believe that the frustration and anxiety results from pursuing perfect sound and thus never really appreciating what you have. Obviously I don't know if that's the case here. I'm stating a general observation. Charles,
08-22-15: Erikminer I am taking a break from it all
So what broke the camel's back?
There is only one small problem with your little plan. Self is at the epicenter of audio, and so taking a "break" is tricky business. Even if you find a new hobby or format of obsession, the same issues will resurrect themselves.
System edited: Made a couple of changes. I upgraded the rest of my PC's to Shunyata Alpha's, HC for the Devialet and a Digital for the Aurender. I also just added an Uptone Audio Regen Amber and a CI Audio VDC 9.0 linear power supply for it.. The Regen is a real winner!
I plan on ordering a Regen when they aren't 2 months backordered! As for DSD 256 I think the Aurender can but my Devialet can only do DSD 64 so no way for me to tell.. But it sure does sound great!
