Great system. I've been considering adding a FR64s to compliment my Ortofon RMG 309 for my SPUs. How would you describe the sound of the Silver Meister paired with the FR64s?
Congrats!! Sounds like a good move...I have heard the difference a transport makes...I compared Esoteric VRDS Neo Mk V (in an Audio Aero using its digital out) to an Oppo 95 and it was not a fair fight.
In the end, after years and years of debating, I finally relented and found a 2nd hand Zanden Transport and am incredibly happy to have the full Zanden digital set. Makes a huge difference.
Interesting. When you have some time, please describe the differences before you did it and what happened now sonically. What was your reason to go for a TEAC Transport? cheers
Taksil, I'm also a fan of Syntax's system and have taken his advice on a few items. His advice that finding high quality original pressings of albums is usually better that many of the 180 gram reissues is spot on.
The Vibraplane weighs 70kg and possibly deals better with airborne vibration. The SRA was not custom made for the 66Kg TT so that needs to be taken into account. I bought the Vibraplane based on Syntax's advice as he is running an identical TT, arms and carts.
Great system also! How did the Vibraplane improve over the SRA under your turntable...SRA is pretty serious stuff and Vibraplane is 'older tech' as i understand...sometimes you stick with tried and tested...so i am not knocking older tech AT ALL. i was just wondering what made you switch. Thanks for any insight! Enjoy your tremendous system!
Fantastic system! I saw your posts about the Lamm ML2. BTW, i nearly got the new ML2.2 and did a ton of research for a couple of weeks...and i have also read in many places the ML2 is better than the ML2.1.
Beautiful system. I have to say im a huge fan of tubes, horns and heavy turntables. Have you upgraded the power cables on the Avantgardes? I found that was a bug improvement.
Taksil: thanks for the kind words. I had never heard of that line stage so i looked it up and read some of the reviews. Bet it's killer. I always eschewed remote control, but when i had a temporary line stage in the system for a couple months, it had remote control and i loved it! I wish there was an aftermarket remote VTA adjustment for tonearms. That would make my life way easier. I can sorta tune off axis but i find myself jumping back and forth sometimes to nail it. Best,
You have been an immense contributor to my reading and knowledge through previous posts in the past in relation to Audiopax 88's, Avantgardes and Lamm ML2's.
I was going to get an LL2 but ended up with the Concert Fidelity as I borrowed a friend's and simply fell in love with the remote volume control capability, plus it is a good pre.
A mate of mine runs ML2.1's into AG Duo Omegas with the Concert Fidelity LSXV2 and it is wonderful.
