Description

1-06-2024....A little over a year ago I picked up the Rockport Arrakis 2 speakers and CH Prcecision M1.1 Mono blocks. Also "newer" to my system is the Allnic L10000 preamp and Nordost Odin power cords, and I added some more acoustic treatments to the walls. The room is serviced by a dedicated Equitech sub panel with seven dedicated lines feeding the room with balanced power.

The recent addition of these little plug in wall conditioner/filters from Nordost and the Puron are very worthwhile tweaks.

8-19-2015....System totally rebuilt from ground up. Moved to a larger room in basement. Room is 18'x 31' with 10' ceilings with seven dedicated circuits feeding into a dedicated wall mounted Equi=Tech subpanel.

4-30-2019.... Finally added proper room treatments focussing mostly on diffusion. All products from GIK Acoustics.

Dave,

Thanks for the response.

Yes the room is a good size- 20'x32'x10'. I actually have a piece of masonite under each speaker that extend out four feet under the area rug. They are painted dark brown to match the floors. For two channel music I just roll back the carpet and roll out the speakers because they have built in casters, but the room acoustics are still so bad that I don't get a well developed soundstage and especially depth wise. Whatever room treatments I come up with need to be VERY inconspicuous for the WAF

I suspect you have a small amount of the cave effect...if you could move your speakers forward, and out of the cave, and place 4 bass traps in the cave (two in the corners, and the other two somewhere between the rack and the corner, you could improve the sound a good bit.

The room is very large (a good thing).
