My new system is a Crown XLS-1500 class D power amp, Accuphase C-200, and ADS L-780 speakers.

This is a VERY enjoyable system!

Still having fun, and it's all about the MUSIC!

Cheers!

Thanks, Mcgaric, my oldest son lives in Bonney Lake, so I try to get down that way a couple of times a year (it's a long drive!) If you get north of Everett, try to stop by.

Hi Dan
Thanks! I really love the Scott, I bought it to satisfy my curiosity about these particular vintage tube amps, what people say is really true, they're wonderful, well.. at least this 222D is.
I can't see selling it, where would I go? it's so musical, it just gets the tone right. You know they used to voice amps with having musicians listen to recordings played through them and tweak them with the input they gave. There's such a simple common sense to this approach. There is an art form to build electronics that seems lost...it's not all about specs and numbers.
To me it's more about tone.
I used to live up on Waldron island, spent all my youth summers up there, and went to school on Orcas Island for a few years, actually took my drivers test up there! real easy too,I thought I got away with something! I haven't been to Whidbey in years, beautiful place too. If you ever come down around south Seattle (Renton area) send me an email and a heads up.
Happy new year to you!
Eric

I have enjoyed reading your thread, I don't know what is better, your system or your sense of humor! Both are great. I notice you mentioned Speakerlab, do you live in the Great Northwest? I'm on Whidbey Island. Perhaps we could get together, if you do, and if you care to.

Happy New Year, regards,
Dan

Thanks Mjcmt, I sold my Accuphase stuff, but kept the C-200 pre,it's hard to beat for a preamp. The P-300 is great, but the Scott is just more musical to my ear.

I'm listening to hifi made before I was born and boy could the Fathers put a kit together! Ohhhhhh that vintage iron...

My System is now a H.H Scott 222D integrated amplifier, Polk LSi9 speakers, an ARCAM rDAC wireless and a bitchin REL sub, My best system yet!

I really enjoy your collection of vintage audiophile gear. Love your preamp, power and B&Ws. I would love to hear Accuphase sometime. I don't see you P300 power amp listed.

I used to be into the newer modern gear until I realized that the vintage audiophile gear is still better than the best modern mid-fi.

You should really get the Quads you are eyeing.

Give them the required break-in of 200+ hours and let me know what you think about the bass. Patience will be rewarded with superb sound. The Quad 12Ls are amazing speakers.
