Sold my Jeff Rowland Concentra II integrated amp and Wilson Duette speakers last Fall as I changed direction into the land of tubes. Now looking for Turntable (likely a Rega P9 with 47labs MCbee) and speakers (Devore,Shindo,Rondo, Verity,Ocellia, others?). I am struggling with the speaker choice. Devore would work well, but would I be fully satisfied with the Devore Nines or new 3XL?
Great table Lowens. I assume you're using the Ortofon and McBee with it. Do you need a SUT or does it go straight into your MC input of your Massetto? Looking forward to hearing your impressions.
Hi Lowens, I used to have a pair of Devores Super 8s, and thought they were really, really good speakers, but with a sensitivity of 90 dbs they were a little bit inefficient for my 15 wpc Montille and lacked dynamics. I think with a more powerful Shindo amp, say 40 wpc they would be spectacular, but they didn't live up to their potential with a lower powered amp,.... at least in my room. Just my 2 cents.
