Musical Fidelity A324 DAC. Nice power plant with an average chip. Still sounds nice after replacing the RCA input jacks and internal power cord.
Thorens TD-166 mkII
It is a gift from a good audio friend (Rene Stock) and for that, I'm grateful. Two things must be removed to improve the sound: 1) the dust cover must be removed and 2) the bottom panel must also be removed. See Photo. I also rewired the internal cable. Next project would be the crappy power cable...
Theta Theta's ONLY tube Preamp
The Preamp is heavily modified with a custom built separate power supply. Rewiring using Audio Note puer silver cable was done about a year ago and it sounds amazing!
Audio Note Kit 1 with upgrades
Very nice sounding Amp. Note the 5th small transformer? Hard to believe it is a 5-7w output amp.
6L6 push pull 6L6
This is done by Daniel in Ontario. He made all my amps and preamps. Bartolucci transformer and Tamura Output transformer. No matter how good a push pull is, it can't beat the single-ended 300B. I use this to drive the 15inch + 18inch drivers.
Altec Lansing A7
806A Horn Driver + 416A bass driver.
Audiosphere Research don't know ...
I bought this pair from a second hand store in town. Not an Alnico driver as the density is not as good as the Altec 416A.
Audioquest Niagara
Smooth and quiet. However, it could sound too laid back and too cold in some systems.
Pioneer Pure Malt VP
One of the best budget speaker I've heard in years. The crossover is poorly designed and built. Good news for me! I decided against using Van Den Hul this time but for Monster (with silver strands) to put more
I was just looking at the Pure Malts. What do you think of them? I'm looking for something to match with a Peachtree Decco for a small-to-medium sized room. Looking at those, Rega R1's, Era Design 4 or 5, or maybe B&W CM1 or 686. Any thoughts on those or general impressions of the Pioneers?
