I'll check out Lettuce and Watanabe. I'll add Mingo Fishtrap, Phat Funktion,
Sante Fe Fat City Horns, Liquid Soul, Sage Funksway and nearly everything
from Tower of Power and Strokeland label (Doc Kupka)...and don't forget
Steve Ferrone (awesome drummer) and his "More Head" album -
great R&B stuff with Stone Temple Pilots crew.

Actually for your ailment I would prescribe The Doctor - based on what I can
tell from your listening tastes and "extrapolating" a bit - Strokeland Records
"DoctorfunK". It'll shake up your musical world - you may want bigger bad
ass big boy speakers to catch that groove though!

Voyeur is excellent - smooth FM jazz/R&B type album. Although I was actually trying to push Lapierre's envelope somewhat deeper towards funk...

Try David Sanborn - Upfront - it is not all his usual smooth schmultzy stuff -
it might also help you get into groovy Funk from smooth radio style jazz. Be
wary though - you might not get any work done in your office if you catch the
Funk. (with Steve Jordan on drums - this CD is an absolute delight and
demonstration of exceptional "musical" drumming)

I don't listen to vocals very much

Try Soulive Steady Groovin', Nils Landgren Funk Unit "5000 Miles" and ToP Oakland Zone - you might make the leap from Jazz to Funk - if you are looking to broaden your experience - 480east is already in that direction just a bit too smooth to really get groovin'.

Lapierre,

Wow - I wish I had that in my office! Very impressive- but can you get any work done?
