Yes, mercury is still used in fillings. However the liquid metal is not allowed to
be exposed to the open air. Once it is mixed with the silver alloy it is safe.
I will say that I believe in the next few years the amalgam fillings will be
eliminated. We already have to have all scrap alloy to be collected and properly
disposed. I am not saying having that tonearm is going to do you great harm,
but the facts are you are breathing in mercury . Mercury in any quantity is not good for you. Elam , I am not trying to give you a bad time but I stand by advise
