Wow, this thing is great. I think my turntable search has ended. I am always skeptical of glowing reviews, and I never did really like the VPI Aries that I had, maybe I never got it set up correctly, so I don't know I bought this table, but it really is special. Sounds like a really nicely updated and renovated Technics Classic table with better range. I love it.
Cary Audio Design SLP-98p F1
F1 version with all the upgrades, it's a great piece of gear, sounds great
Magnepan Super MMG
the listening room was too small for full on Maggies, and the Harbeth's sounded nice, but I missed the Maggies so much I thought I would try the Super MMG system in this small room. Very hopeful
Bryston 4B SST-2
supposed to be a perfect match for Maggies, we'll see. I had the 7Bsst's with some 3.6R's before that sounded fantastic, so I'm hopeful
Oppo 105
I'm so happy with this machine, it does everything I could want and more. I use it as my video processor as well, for home theater. Great gear.
Spetlz Level 2 Shielded
I needed a long Turntable cable run, so thought I would try these, given the low cost/great word of mouth. I was shocked when I used them for my other components before the turntable was hooked up. Great sound, very open, powerful. I changed all over to these. It may just be synergy with new gear, but they sound great.
Speltz Anti Cables Level 2
after my experiment with the Anti Cable interconnects I switched my speaker cables as well. Great choice!!
Soundsmith VPI Zephyr
FANTASTIC!! This extremely well sheilded cartridge, without any break-in, already has been stellar. Gone is the hum from my very nice Grado Statement cartridge, but very similar warmth and depth.
Definitive Technology Supercube SC 4000
Huge sound from a 10" cube. Very fast, with 2 passive radiators. I got hooked on these subs, after using big Rel's, and Velodyne DD's. Great sound and value, super flexible.
Apple TV 160gb
Why use anything else?? Could audio get any easier???
APC s15
does it all
Drobo DroboShare
Infinite Storage and backup for music files, cheap security for all your files.
Epson 8350
Excellent Projector
Elite Screens X200
Inexpensive, yet great looking screen.
Gingko Cloud 11
isolation
Mye Stands Stealth
For the MMG's, these worked really well on my previous 3.6R's
Thanks, and the wife thanks you. I don't think I will change anything out for quite a while. Kind of disappointing. Maybe I will buy a new subwoofer, just to do it. LOL.
What phono pre are you using? I just got my Clearaudio Performance on Friday but can't set it up until next week. I got the Simaudio 5.3 based on my experience with sim gear and some great reviews, plus my desire to run balanced. Let me know your thoughts on the table when you have it set up. Is this your first TT? Congrats on a great system!
System edited: When I get the turntable set up I will take new pictures. I need to have a new rack made that fits the space. I was going to have a metal frame made and put granite pieces on each level. Anyone had that done???
You never answered how the Cary and Benchmark are working together? Any impressions yet? What about the PartsConnexion upgrades for the DAC? Is the sound very bright with the Benchmark and the Maggies, and if so what do you do to mellow it out?
thx, for the patience I am thinking about a very similar set up to replace my Klipschorn/SET-vinyl setup.
Thanks for the kind words. If I was single I would probably have one old chair in a carpeted room, so I can't really comment. My wife thanks you.
As all this new stuff breaks in, new speakers (rebuilt at Magnepan, love those guys up north), new preamp, new DAC (bought used but I don't think it was broken in) it is really opening up. I couldn't be happier. Strangely, I have the Cary playing music from the DAC, but leave the reciever on and it recieves another signal from the Apple TV or the DVD changer from HDMI and I use the sub run through that to great effect when I want to add more low end. Unexpected, but very effective.
Wow, love the system, and beautiful room. It's funny to see how there are some $100k systems where the furniture and house look like they come from circa "All in the Family".
How does the Cary SLP98 sound with the digital amps and the DAC? Cool, very cool, combo of gear.
I have a whole new system, but it's temporary, so I won't post until I re-assemble. I am building a media room, so when that's done we'll look at it again!!!
System edited: After buying all of the analog equipment to set up a turntable, I watched my 3 small children run around the house and decided it could wait for a dedicated media room.
Thanks, I am really long pre-amps right now. I need to get rid of a couple, and find a phono stage. Probably going to get a plasma TV too. But really only so that I can get my turntable onto the rack.
