Description

Always loved great sound, finally started to put together a good system in mid 2012. Started with the tekton lore s, then wanted a small integrated and chose the red wine sig 15. I have a bright room and vinnie helped me select a good tube (Amperex PQ 841) and work on speaker placement which has helped balance the sound. I recently replaced my audio engine dac1 with a higher end Rega DAC. The rega has a natural, analogue sound, which works well with the red wine. I have been able to keep my system pretty small, which i appreciate. I have realized as I build this system the importance of the source, and have been unhappy with the sound of my itunes music (mostly cds burned in losless, but also downloaded itunes songs in the lossless format). I recently purchased a subscription to unlimited access to Qobuzz and the streaming sound quality, although 12/44.1 (the same as my itunes collection), is excellent. I am finally able to enjoy more of the potential of my system. I wish there was a dj/online radio service that had good sound quality, but for now, I am enjoying listening to a wide range or high quality tracks on qobuzz, going album by album, which i haven't done in some time.

Components Toggle details

    • Red wine audio Signature 15
Just received it, will update. 15 watts, tube pre, battery powered
    • Tekton Lore s
Piano black, hand made in Utah. Simple, elegant and versatile speakers, a great buy
    • Wireworld Equinox 6 interconnects RCA
Just added these. Seems more clear
    • PNF Symphony with banana plugs
Purchased these used. They are pretty large and heavy. Can't honestly tell the difference from the Home Depot electric cable I used at this point.
    • Rega DAC
Purchased a used Rega DAC, has a very natural, balanced sound in my system, a good match to the red wine amp i have. I enjoy the small changes between the filters, particularly #4.

possibly due to compression in the recording process of the CD you burned to iTunes ... some iTunes radio stations are pretty good and if they are playing a well recorded piece COULD sound better than certain things you burned
